Leidos is seeking a UI/UX engineer to design and deliver highly usable mobile, touch-based experiences and responsive, adaptive UX solutions across multiple platform types. This is an on-site role at a Naval Facility in San Diego, CA 92121, and the position requires US citizenship with an active Secret DoD security clearance.
In this role, you will help shape UX strategy with leadership and product owners, and you will advocate for strong UX design in an engineering-heavy environment. You will also partner closely with developers, engineers, and testers to bring designs to life through interactive prototypes and thoughtful information architecture.
Responsibilities
- Partner with leadership and product owners to develop a UX strategy across multiple platform types
- Design responsive and/or adaptive UX solutions that account for different form factors and screen widths
- Lead the design and execution of highly usable, engaging UX designs, frameworks, and information architectures aligned to user goals and needs
- Create interactive prototypes using available tools
- Work closely with and guide developers, engineers, and testers throughout delivery and validation
- Manage multiple simultaneous UX research, design, and engineering processes
- Own and advocate for the importance of excellent UX design within a product engineering environment
Requirements
- US citizenship and an active Secret DoD security clearance are required
- BA/BS in Design or HCI, or BA/BS in Computer Science or Engineering with UX experience, plus 8+ years of experience
- 5+ years delivering UX for successful, innovative mobile products, including exposure to a variety of UX research techniques and familiarity with lean UX process
- 5+ years producing UX designs and interaction prototypes using industry-standard tools, including examples such as Sketch, Pixate, and Adobe Creative Suite
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred / Desired qualifications
- Design experience in a mobile, touch-based environment
- Experience with ECUs or SKLs
- Demonstrable independence and initiative, including identifying, diagnosing, and addressing problems early
- Strong, defendable design sensibilities, with the ability to make the case for design decisions
- Experience with pixel-perfect design and the collaboration and organization to ensure details do not fall through the cracks
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including knowing how to request clarification when needed
- An impressive portfolio demonstrating the ability to break down complex problems, build effective UX solutions, and execute high-quality designs and prototypes
- DoD 8570 approved security certification (Security +) required within 90 days after hire
Salary range: USD 107,900 - 195,050 per year. Original posting date: September 17, 2026.
