Job Description

Improve the usability, accessibility, performance, and visual effectiveness of Focus on the Family’s digital experiences while partnering across product, marketing, development, and creative teams. This onsite role in Colorado Springs supports a ministry-focused approach to digital stewardship, helping ensure visitors can quickly find what they need, move through programs with confidence, and return through video-first experiences.

You will lead ongoing web redesign and optimization using usability best practices, A/B testing, analytics, and performance engineering. Work will span landing pages, managed websites, applications, experimentation infrastructure, SEO and AI-engine discoverability foundations, and the technical details that make the site fast, reliable, and easy to navigate.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and optimize the UI/UX of Programs and Products landing pages to improve usability, design effectiveness, and conversion performance.
  • Own and maintain a shared component/design system so department developers build consistently across the site.
  • Define and enforce performance budgets (load time, page weight, Core Web Vitals) as a gate for new pages and features.
  • Establish a lightweight technical review approach (for example, RFCs for significant changes) to maintain architectural coherence across a matrixed team.
  • Coordinate sprint priorities and technical dependencies with Marketing Managers across departments.
  • Provide technical mentorship and UI/UX guidance to department-level developers and web designers.
  • Lead blameless post-incident reviews for broken links, outages, and SEO drops, and feed learnings back into monitoring and process.
  • Plan and execute A/B tests on landing pages, applying findings to improve user flow, design decisions, and conversion rates.
  • Maintain brand consistency and accessibility standards across Programs and Products digital properties.
  • Analyze and improve the UI/UX of Programs and Products applications by identifying friction points to increase engagement and retention.
  • Review application user journeys, navigation, and interface patterns to support intuitive, mobile-responsive, user-centered experiences.
  • Collaborate with developers, web designers, and product stakeholders to prioritize, refine, and validate design improvements.
  • Provide UI/UX consultation from concept through launch, including early input on wireframes, design concepts, functional specifications, and user experience considerations.
  • Conduct pre-launch quality reviews for usability, browser compatibility, mobile responsiveness, accessibility, and load performance.
  • Optimize user-facing touchpoints that guide visitors through their interaction with the ministry.
  • Contribute to the evolution of Focus on the Family’s digital design approach by maintaining consistent design standards and driving user-informed improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, user experience design, interactive design, a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5–7 years of experience in digital design, UI/UX, and website or app optimization.
  • Familiarity with A/B testing and UX analytics tools such as Microsoft Clarity, Google Optimize, Hotjar, or similar.
  • Working knowledge of technical SEO and AI/generative search discoverability (schema, crawl/index architecture, sitemaps).
  • Experience with tagging/analytics implementation (for example, Google Tag Manager, data layers).
  • Experience with site performance optimization and setting/enforcing performance budgets (including Core Web Vitals).
  • Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools such as Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Working knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3, including how design choices affect implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret product and marketing goals and translate them into user-centered digital solutions.
  • Experience designing for landing pages, e-commerce, or app experiences with emphasis on discoverability and conversion preferred.
  • Experience with video-related web infrastructure (embeds, structured data, streaming) is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with headless CMS architecture and DAM systems (Aprimo a plus).
  • Experience integrating disparate platforms (for example, ecommerce and CMS).
  • Salesforce experience strongly preferred; Salesforce Marketing Cloud Personalization preferred.
  • Comfort operating in a matrix structure, influencing without direct authority over department-level developers.
