UI/UX Lead Software Engineer

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer within Enterprise Functions Technology, with a strong emphasis on UI/UX design for enterprise workflow, dashboard, reporting, and business-facing web applications. The role partners across product, engineering, and business teams to deliver intuitive, accessible, scalable, and user-centered digital experiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex technology initiatives, including efforts with companywide scope and broad impact.
• Contribute to the development of engineering standards and companywide best practices for large-scale technology solutions.
• Design, code, test, debug, and document projects and programs.
• Review and analyze complex, large-scale solutions against tactical and strategic business objectives, including evaluation of enterprise technical environments and challenges.
• Make decisions shaping standard and companywide best practices, applying industry best practices and new technologies, and guiding technology teams to meet deliverables and launch new initiatives.
• Collaborate and consult with technical experts, senior team members, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals.
• Lead projects and teams, or act as a peer mentor.

Requirements

• 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
• 5+ years of professional UI/UX design experience creating intuitive, user-centered digital experiences for web and/or mobile applications.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with Figma for wireframing, prototyping, design systems, and collaborative product design.
• 2+ years of experience developing or partnering on front-end applications using React and TypeScript.
• 3+ years of experience conducting user research and usability testing, and translating findings into actionable design improvements.
• 3+ years of experience designing responsive web applications across multiple devices, screen sizes, and platforms.
• Experience applying accessibility standards and best practices, including WCAG guidelines, to build inclusive digital experiences.
• Experience working in Agile and Scrum environments.
• 2+ years using AI-powered design-to-code tools to translate UX/UI designs (for example, from Figma) into developer-ready front-end code to accelerate development workflows.
• 1+ years integrating existing RESTful APIs and backend services into front-end applications to support seamless, data-driven user experiences.
• Ability to bridge design and engineering by converting user-centered designs into scalable, maintainable React/TypeScript implementations.

• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools to generate, optimize, and refine front-end code from design artifacts and prototypes.
• Experience owning the end-to-end workflow from design conception through implementation, including API integration, testing, and deployment.
• Experience working as a UX Engineer, Design Technologist, or similar hybrid role combining UX design, front-end development, and AI-assisted delivery.
