Sr. UI/UX Developer

Hybrid in Des Moines, IA and focused on high-impact UI work for an enterprise client engagement. All IT Solutions is seeking a Sr. UI/UX Developer (contract) with 5+ years of professional front-end experience to help build and sustain an accessible, reusable component library and design system.

What you’ll build and maintain

You’ll support enterprise UI consistency by developing and documenting a scalable design system and reusable component library using the U.S. web design system program framework (or similar enterprise systems). The work includes creating wrapper components and accessible UI building blocks that help teams ship consistent experiences across multiple enterprise systems.

• Build, document, and maintain a scalable design system and reusable component library
• Develop high-level wrapper components using HTML, SASS, and Angular
• Create accessible, reusable, scalable UI components aligned to enterprise patterns
• Ensure UI patterns meet WCAG 2.1/AAA using semantic HTML, ARIA roles, and accessibility testing workflows
• Use Storybook for component development, documentation, testing, and cross-team collaboration
• Partner with developers across teams to drive adoption of accessibility and UX standards
• Provide accessibility and UX support for major enterprise systems to support compliance with mandated requirements
• Participate in code reviews, accessibility audits, and UX discussions
• Maintain the quality, usability, accessibility, and consistency of front-end assets
• Collaborate across teams to establish and maintain enterprise design system best practices
• Mentor and support developers on accessibility and design system best practices
• Support near-term accessibility and design system needs across multiple enterprise systems
• Contribute to long-term sustainability and adoption of reusable design system components across multiple agencies

Skills and experience needed

• Bachelor’s Degree
• 5+ years of professional front-end development experience
• Proven ability to set up and integrate enterprise design systems, including wrapper components and reusable component libraries
• Strong expertise in WCAG 2.1/AAA, including ARIA roles, semantic HTML, and accessibility testing tools
• Proficiency in HTML, SASS, and Angular
• Experience using Storybook for development, documentation, and collaboration
• Strong understanding of UX best practices and accessible UI design
• Experience with USWDS or other enterprise-level design systems
• Proven experience creating and implementing design systems from scratch
• Ability to develop accessible, reusable, and scalable components
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills
• Experience participating in code reviews, accessibility audits, and UX discussions
• Ability to support accessibility compliance and UX standards across enterprise applications
