Job Description

Rocket Companies is seeking a Senior Product Designer for a hybrid role based in San Diego, California. In this position, you will lead end-to-end design across products and platforms, partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to drive user-centered design through every stage of the product lifecycle.

  • Location: California (hybrid) – based in San Diego, CA
  • Salary: USD 104,500 - 288,000 per year

Responsibilities

  • Own the full design lifecycle for products, from initial concepts through UX/UI detail, prototyping, and production-ready deliverables.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to shape product strategy and craft intuitive interfaces.
  • Collaborate with user researchers to conduct usability tests that inform design decisions and iterate based on user input and business goals.
  • Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity visuals to communicate concepts effectively.
  • Develop and refine scalable visual systems and patterns for mobile and web platforms.
  • Produce high-fidelity designs and work with developers to ensure faithful, high-quality implementation.
  • Stay current with design trends, tools, and industry best practices to maintain usability and visual appeal.
  • Champion user-centered design by conducting empathy activities, leveraging data and feedback to deliver an exceptional product experience.
  • Contribute to and maintain design systems, ensuring consistency across the product portfolio.
  • Mentor a team of designers to foster a culture of creativity and collaboration.

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience in product design
  • Experience designing consumer-facing products, with a portfolio showing strong design across mobile and web
  • Proficiency with industry-standard design tools
  • Solid understanding of interaction design, visual hierarchy, and typography
  • Ability to translate complex problems into clean, elegant solutions
  • Experience applying user research and usability testing to design iterations
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and advocate for the user experience
  • Familiarity with front-end development concepts
  • Experience contributing to or working within design systems
