Job Description

Arketa is hiring a Senior Product Designer for a hybrid role based in New York, NY (in office 3x per week in NoHo). This position spans multiple features and surfaces, with primary ownership of the product design system and close partnership with Product and Engineering.

Role Overview

This is a broad, cross-project design role rather than a seat inside a single pod. You will work across many parts of the app, help define new design solutions, and take responsibility for how the user interface comes together from early concepts through high-fidelity execution. A key focus of the role is turning Arketa’s existing design system into something cohesive, scalable, and visually strong that the team is motivated to use.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work cross-project across many features and surfaces, instead of owning one isolated pod or product area
  • Evolve the existing design system into a cohesive, scalable, and visually strong system the team actually wants to use
  • Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering to define and implement new features and design solutions
  • Own user interface design from wireframes and prototypes through high-fidelity visuals
  • Use AI tools such as Claude to build working prototypes and test ideas quickly to reach better answers sooner
  • Align designs with both business goals and user needs in partnership with the product team
  • Present design concepts, updates, and cross-team launches during team-wide check-ins
  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices in design and user experience

Requirements

  • Approximately 5+ years of product design experience, with a strong portfolio demonstrating design expertise and process (senior level is anchored, with openness in either direction for the right work)
  • Design-first approach with a focus on high-quality, user-centered interfaces
  • Outcome-driven mindset using data, session captures, and customer interviews to shape and refine designs
  • A balance of B2B and consumer experience, with the ability to untangle complex B2B workflows and create genuinely beautiful consumer surfaces
  • Experience contributing to or leading a design system that supports a growing product
  • Proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD
  • Hands-on use of AI tools like Claude to prototype quickly and move from idea to working concept
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams
  • Organized, self-sufficient, and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously

Technologies

  • Claude
  • Figma
  • Sketch
  • Adobe XD

About the Team

You will work closely with Product and Engineering as a core design partner, not as a downstream service function. Since the role is not assigned to one pod, you will have visibility across the product and influence over how surfaces fit together. Arketa is described as a small, fast-moving team where designers are expected to show their work, participate in team-wide check-ins, and own outcomes.

Success Milestones

  • 30 days: complete onboarding, become familiar with the product, and audit the current design system to identify inconsistencies or breakdowns
  • 60 days: ship alongside engineering across multiple surfaces, and define foundational components of the design system refresh that are in use
  • 90 days: improve the quality of user experiences across the Arketa app, reflected in product and customer satisfaction metrics

Benefits

  • Ownership and Opportunity for Advancement
  • Competitive Salary and Stock Options
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Medical, dental and vision health insurance
  • Fitness Class Reimbursement
  • Parental Leave Policy

Compensation

  • Estimated annual base salary: USD 165,000 - 185,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications
  • Equity in addition to base pay

Hybrid Location

This role is hybrid, with attendance 3x per week to the NYC office in NoHo. The office days are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
