Hermeus is seeking a contract Art Director based in Los Angeles, CA (onsite) to set visual and tonal direction, support storytelling for PR and editorial audiences, and lead the end-to-end creation of still and moving creative assets. The role supports executive leadership with key materials while coordinating with external partners on larger projects.
Role Overview
This position is designed for a versatile creative who can balance strategy with hands-on production. The schedule is 16 hours per week, Monday through Friday, at a typical cadence of about two days per week. The contract is expected to run 3 to 6 months, with an hourly rate of USD 110 to 150.
Responsibilities
- Define and evolve visual and tonal guidelines to maintain consistency across brand touchpoints.
- Develop storytelling strategies and conceptualize brand content tailored for PR and editorial channels.
- Work directly with executive leadership to design, produce, and refine executive-facing assets.
- Conceptualize, design, and lead the full development of high-quality still and moving creative assets for both paid and organic marketing channels.
- Assist with managing relationships involving external agencies, creative partners, and freelancers for larger initiatives.
Requirements
- Proven professional experience as an Art Director, Designer, or in a closely related role, demonstrating both strategic thinking and hands-on execution.
- A strong portfolio showing conceptual clarity, including typography, layout design, and brand identity work.
- Proficiency with industry-standard design tools.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain creative rationale and incorporate feedback constructively.
- Availability to work approximately two days per week on a contract basis.
