Role overview
As the design leader for your product area, you will set and articulate product and feature vision, guide implementation with cross-functional partners, and oversee multiple web and mobile features across a broader product surface. - Communicate complex ideas to senior leadership using documentation, reviews, and presentations.
- Create prototypes, wireframes, storyboards, concepts, and related collateral to communicate research results and make a case for new ideas.
- Lead the evolution of design systems by extending and adhering to the existing style guide and contributing to systemic changes, while teaching the design systems approach.
- Generate detailed final design specs that enable accurate developer builds.
- Work with developers and quality experts to deliver a polished final product.
- Promote and educate teams on new interface guidelines and design patterns across the organization.
- Mentor and develop other designers, support team goals, and partner with recruiting to identify and hire world-class, diverse talent.
- Develop software intended to be global in reach, universal in design, and usable by people across multiple languages and abilities.
- Champion accessibility by encouraging product and engineering management to prioritize accessible features and bug fixes, and question decisions that may harm underrepresented groups.
- Set and own the vision for a product’s creative identity, articulate it to senior leadership, and guide implementation.
What you bring
- 12–15+ years of experience designing and delivering software products end to end as part of a cross-functional team, including experience shaping product vision at a senior leadership level.
- Ability to deliver solutions on time independently with on-site and distributed teams, managing engagement and expectations across internal and external stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of user-centered design methods and best practices, plus experience using analytics and research to drive decisions and product iterations.
- Strong AI-fluency, including experience with emerging AI tools and new ways of working.
- Ability to explore ideas, persuade, and build consensus with senior leadership amid ambiguity and changing deadlines.
- Proven executive-level communication and active listening, with experience building close, trusting relationships across product and engineering, including recruiting world-class, diverse talent.
- Track record managing large design initiatives end to end, including balancing competing priorities across multiple disciplines.
- Demonstrated desire to improve processes and history of driving meaningful process improvements at a team or org level.
- Mastery of designing and thinking in design systems, including evolving and teaching the approach in and outside UX.
- Willingness to address ethics and equality by questioning projects and assumptions that may harm others, especially underrepresented groups.
- Expert knowledge of current design tools such as Figma, plus ability to learn new tools.
- A related technical degree required.
- E-Commerce or app marketplace experience is a plus.
