User Interface & User Experience (UI/UX) Designer

EKASYS INC is seeking a UI/UX Designer to drive end-to-end user experience and interface design for a mission-critical modernization application. This onsite role supports users across federal, state, and local agencies by turning investigative workflows and user needs into intuitive, accessible, responsive, and visually engaging designs.

What you’ll do

• Run user research and workflow analysis to understand functional needs, and then shape user-centered design through personas and user journeys.
• Produce wireframes, mockups, and high-fidelity prototypes (plus templates and other front-end design components) using Adobe XD or similar tools.
• Partner with solution architects, developers, stakeholders, and product teams to convert business and technical requirements into effective UI/UX designs.
• Design responsive interfaces that are browser- and device-agnostic for desktop, mobile, and tablet environments.
• Perform usability testing, assess designs against recognized usability principles, document results, and apply feedback to iterate on improvements.
• Ensure accessibility compliance with Section 508 and WCAG, including keyboard navigation, screen-reader compatibility, and appropriate color contrast.
• Maintain consistency across screens by aligning to established UI/UX style guides and component-based design standards.
• Support Agile/Scrum delivery by providing designs and prototypes for user stories and collaborating throughout each sprint.
• Track usability findings and UI/UX metrics, including task success rates, user feedback, and resolution of usability issues.
• Participate in user research and field activities, including travel to customer locations as needed.

What you bring

• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Information Systems, or a related field.
• At least 4 years of UI/UX design experience, preferably supporting complex web or enterprise applications.
• Proficiency in Adobe XD (or comparable wireframing and prototyping tools).
• Experience designing accessible interfaces in line with Section 508/WCAG requirements.
• Proven experience across user-centered design, usability testing, responsive design, and translating research into actionable changes.
• Strong creative, technical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• A portfolio demonstrating UI/UX work for web, enterprise, or data-intensive applications.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Background Investigation.

Helpful experience

• Experience supporting federal government, law enforcement, case management, or incident-reporting systems.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments and with component-based design systems.
• Experience with responsive, device-agnostic design, GIS/map-based interfaces, and data visualization.

Location and employment

• Full-Time, 40 hours per week
