Job Description

SAIC is seeking a skilled UI/UX Designer with strong front-end development abilities to join our Arlington, VA onsite team. In this role, you will design intuitive, user-centered interfaces and craft seamless experiences for our customers across web applications. You will blend design thinking with hands-on coding to bring ideas to life in a collaborative setting.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build intuitive user interfaces for web applications with a focus on usability and clarity.
  • Partner with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into user‑centered design solutions.
  • Create wireframes, high‑fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes that convey design concepts, user flows, and interactions.
  • Develop responsive front‑end code using HTML, CSS, SCSS, and JavaScript libraries, ensuring cross‑browser compatibility and optimized performance.
  • Establish and maintain design systems, style guides, UI component libraries, and design tokens to support consistent, scalable experiences across products.
  • Work closely with back‑end developers to integrate front‑end code with server‑side logic and databases.
  • Participate in design reviews, offer constructive feedback, and contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Support discovery, user research, and usability testing efforts, applying insights to iterative design improvements.
  • Engage in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and thrive in a fast‑paced, iterative development setting.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a UI/UX Designer in software design.
  • Proficiency with prototyping tools such as Adobe XD or Figma, and visual design tools including Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with the ability to hand‑code and troubleshoot front‑end components in production.
  • Experience with front‑end frameworks like Angular, React, or Vue.js, and design libraries such as Bootstrap and Material UI.
  • Familiarity with version control systems, specifically Git.
  • Understanding of user‑centered design principles, information architecture, interaction design, and scalable component‑based design systems.
  • Comfort working in a lean team environment where designers contribute directly to implementation and collaborate closely with engineers.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment and the ability to adapt to evolving requirements.
