Job Description

This hybrid role in New York, NY pairs hands-on design craft with fast-moving product collaboration across Product Managers and Engineers, with tools and workflows that support rapid exploration, prototyping, and delivery.

In this role, you will champion AI-enabled product design, taking opportunities from ambiguity to a clear design direction. What you’ll do

  • Apply exceptional UX, UI, and visual craft while shaping product direction and bringing new experiences to life.
  • Partner with Product Managers and Engineers to identify the right opportunities and guide product development.
  • Use AI-assisted tools and agentic workflows to accelerate exploration, prototyping, and delivery.
  • Move quickly from ambiguity to design direction, making appropriate tradeoffs between speed, quality, and impact.

What you’ll bring

  • 7+ years of experience in product design, UX design, interaction design, or a related discipline, with a portfolio showing successful digital product experiences.
  • Strong product thinking and experience designing and shipping consumer-facing web or mobile products.
  • Demonstrated collaboration with Product Managers and Engineers across the full product development lifecycle.
  • Experience using AI-assisted tools and workflows to accelerate design exploration, prototyping, or product development.
  • Comfort creating interactive or code-based prototypes using tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of interaction design, user-centered design, information architecture, visual design, and usability principles.
  • Ability to shift between high-level concepts and production-ready design, choosing the right level of fidelity for each problem.
  • Experience working with design systems, reusable components, and modern digital product development practices.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, including articulating design decisions and influencing product direction through ambiguity.
  • A growth mindset and genuine curiosity about how AI and emerging technologies affect how digital products are designed and built.
  • Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the United States, as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.

Compensation

USD 123,000 - 215,250 per year.

Benefits and flexibility
