Engineered Wood Products Designer

The Engineered Wood Products (EWP) Designer role supports the Saginaw branch by translating residential and light commercial project needs into engineered wood floor and roof system designs. The position emphasizes collaboration with the design team and active customer support through accurate, application-focused recommendations.

Role Overview

This is a full-time onsite position in Saginaw, MI. The designer creates engineered wood system designs for residential and light commercial blueprints, working directly with a broader design organization and partnering closely with retail lumber dealers and builders.

The designer will report to the head of the EWP department, and product training is provided to support effective design and customer guidance.

Key Responsibilities

• Work directly with the design team to support engineering deliverables.
• Design engineered wood products including I-joist, wood beams, and connectors for residential and commercial blueprints.
• Answer customer questions regarding personal designs and/or designs created by other team members.
• Identify and recommend the most suitable products for each customer’s specific job application.
• Use provided design software to interpret residential and commercial blueprints into structural placement estimate plans.
• Respond to customer and associate inquiries to support sales, training, and ongoing engineered wood product assistance.

Required Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of architecture and/or CAD systems.
• Strong math skills.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organization and ability to multi-task.
• Outgoing, professional demeanor with a “can do” attitude.
• Ability to work effectively as a team player.
