Job Description

Colen Built Development is hiring an onsite Web Designer in Ocala, FL to help design and build websites that are visually strong, user-friendly, and functional. In this role, you will support marketing efforts across multiple channels while partnering with teams to keep the brand experience consistent and up to date.

Responsibilities

  • Apply web performance optimization and SEO best practices to improve site visibility and usability.
  • Use strong front-end development skills, with advanced proficiency in HTML5 and CSS3.
  • Integrate designs with CMS platforms, including the ability to develop custom themes, templates, and components.
  • Implement UX/UI and accessibility standards in website designs and updates.
  • Assist in maintaining consistency across web-based advertising campaigns, identities, and web processes.
  • Support the development and execution of creative strategies aligned with marketing objectives and brand awareness.
  • Maintain, update, and enhance company websites on an ongoing basis.
  • Work in Adobe Creative Suite, with emphasis on Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and Illustrator, plus proficiency in Figma, Sketch, and Canva.
  • Use WordPress effectively to create and manage websites.
  • Gather information about client business, target audience, and industry trends to inform design decisions.
  • Create graphics, icons, and other visual elements that improve website appearance and user experience.
  • Collaborate in creative sessions for project kick-offs and present concepts and strategies to senior management with feedback incorporated.
  • Maintain archives of previous work and generate innovative design ideas aligned with brand identity and messaging.
  • Develop basic outlines and interactive models of website structure and layout.
  • Capture photos or videos as needed of models, classes, employees, and residents for use across websites, brochures, and collateral.
  • Create video content optimized for social media channels highlighting amenities, guest experiences, and event highlights.
  • Ensure responsive experiences across desktops, tablets, and smartphones.
  • Partner with developers to implement design concepts and ensure seamless integration into website code.
  • Stay current on web design trends, technologies, and best practices.
  • Support internal and external customer expectations through responsiveness and timely, accurate service.
  • Uphold and evolve the company’s brand identity so creative work reflects values, mission, and brand.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to conceptualize and execute campaigns, including special events and promotions.
  • Design and produce high-quality visuals for digital and print advertising aligned with the marketing strategy and brand identity.
  • Ensure quality outcomes and timely delivery, and inform management of changes, potential problems, or outstanding issues.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Events, and Operations, to align marketing efforts with business objectives.
  • Report any incident or accident to the Manager/Director and inform managers of issues.
  • Perform duties in adherence to OTOW standards and help maintain a safe working environment.
  • Maintain a positive, professional demeanor toward residents, visitors, and co-workers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Web, Marketing, Communications, or Graphic Design required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in web design and maintenance required.
  • 2+ years of experience in a creative design or marketing role required.
  • Print and web design capabilities for integrated campaigns.
  • Prior website development required.
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite with emphasis on Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Dreamweaver, and Adobe Illustrator required.
  • Experience in Apple iMovie or Adobe Premiere preferred.
  • Strong English reading, writing, and understanding, plus superior written, verbal, and interpersonal communication, including ability to write compelling copy.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required.
  • Mac/PC proficiency essential; Microsoft Office skills required, including Adobe Creative Suite and WordPress.
  • Familiarity with Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms.
  • Photography experience beneficial.
  • Conceptualize verbal directions and troubleshoot to offer solutions.
  • Respond well to constructive criticism; strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Thorough understanding of interactive communications and delivery systems, processes, user interface design, and industry best practices.
  • Knowledge of web layouts, graphic fundamentals, typography, and the limitations of the web, including ability to storyboard ideas and develop motion graphics solutions.
  • Working knowledge of design, brand development, interactive commerce, and the creative process.
  • Creative, inquisitive, detail-oriented team player who is a continual learner, open to change, with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Honesty and integrity; self-starter with strong interpersonal skills.
