UI/UX Designer

The UI/UX Designer role at DCCA in Chantilly, VA (onsite) supports end-to-end, human-centered design for accessible, responsive enterprise web experiences in a federal environment. This position requires an active TS/SCI with Poly and includes close collaboration with full stack developers, usability testing, and alignment to Agile delivery practices.

Role Overview

Lead end-to-end human-centered design activities, from user research and experience mapping to prototyping and iterative refinement. Partner with federal stakeholders and full stack development teams to translate designs into high-performance web applications, primarily using React.js.

Responsibilities

• Drive the complete design process by conducting user research, creating user personas, developing journey maps, and building service blueprints to address user pain points.
• Produce low-fidelity wireframes and high-fidelity interactive prototypes using tools such as Figma, Sketch, and Adobe XD, visualizing complex workflows and system interactions.
• Plan and facilitate usability testing sessions with federal stakeholders and end-users, collecting qualitative and quantitative feedback to support continuous iterative improvements.
• Collaborate with full stack developers to ensure designs are technically feasible and implemented as responsive, high-performance web applications, primarily in React.js.
• Maintain strict adherence to federal Section 508 accessibility compliance, W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), and agency-specific design systems.
• Create, maintain, and advocate design systems, style guides, and component libraries to support visual consistency across all BEAR Task Order deliverables.
• Participate in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment by contributing to sprint planning, backlog grooming, and delivery of design artifacts aligned to the Agile Release Train (ART).

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of professional UI/UX design experience, supported by a strong portfolio demonstrating complex enterprise software or web application design.
• High proficiency with modern UI/UX design and prototyping tools, specifically Figma, and the Adobe Creative Suite.
• Solid understanding of frontend web technologies including HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript, including how design decisions affect frontend frameworks such as React.js.
• Demonstrated expertise applying Human-Centered Design principles, conducting user research, and converting feedback into actionable solutions.
• TS/SCI w/ Poly.

Compensation & Location

• Salary: USD 195,000 - 220,000 per year

Preferred Experience & Skills

• Track record architecting mission-critical digital solutions for federal agencies (e.g., DoD, IC, CMS), including rigorous implementation of the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS) and federal design mandates.
• Subject-matter expertise in federal accessibility, including conducting Section 508 compliance audits and executing remediations for complex, enterprise-level web applications.
• Advanced capability in data visualization, translating massive datasets, complex AI/ML outputs, and predictive analytics into intuitive, interactive dashboards for executive decision-making.
• Industry certifications validating mastery in Human-Centered Design and enterprise-scale agility (e.g., Nielsen Norman Group UX Certification, SAFe Agile Certification).

Education & Certification

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in data science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline.
