Job Description

Hybrid UI/UX Designer responsible for the design, execution, and optimization of digital experiences across ESSC brands, including design system leadership and collaboration with development teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead discovery sessions, collect stakeholder input, and create sitemaps, user flows, and project briefs to set projects up for success.
  • Integrate user research, stakeholder feedback, and heuristic assessments to guide design decisions before production begins.
  • Own end-to-end UI/UX work for the ESSC brand web presence—from wireframes and prototypes to production-ready UI specs and developer handoff.
  • Collaborate with developers and integration experts to validate feasibility and preserve design integrity during implementation.
  • Drive the creation and ongoing evolution of the ESSC Enterprise Design System, including components, interaction patterns, tokens, and documentation within the framework set by the Creative Brand Manager.
  • Apply and extend brand guidelines across digital touchpoints to ensure consistency across subsidiary brands.
  • Support digital components of campaigns, events, and enterprise initiatives as needed.
  • Provide graphic design support for select marketing initiatives, including social media, email campaigns, and event materials, as bandwidth allows.
  • Perform cross-browser and cross-device testing to guarantee consistent functionality, performance, and visuals.
  • Manage own project workload, track priorities, communicate timelines, and deliver quality work on schedule.
  • Define and document UX standards and best practices for the broader team.
  • Collaborate with marketing, communications, and technology teams to deliver cohesive digital experiences across owned websites, microsites, event sites, and campaigns as needed.
  • Create and maintain design systems, component libraries, and UI style guides.
  • Continuously analyze user data and performance metrics to identify optimization opportunities.
  • Attend company events and represent the firm at industry events as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in UI/UX Design, Interaction Design, Visual Communications, or related discipline.
  • 4–6 years of UI/UX design experience with a portfolio showing both marketing/brochure site work and product or application design.
  • Systems thinking — components, tokens, patterns — and enthusiasm for design infrastructure.
  • Fluent in Figma with auto layout, variables, component architecture, prototyping, and sitemap/flow documentation.
  • Working understanding of HTML and CSS to communicate buildability and design with implementation in mind.
  • User-centered design approach that balances aesthetics, usability, accessibility, and performance.
  • Strong brand literacy, able to internalize and apply brand systems precisely and flag inconsistencies.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) for graphic design support as needed.
  • Clear communicator of design decisions to leadership, marketers, and developers.
  • Attention to detail in spacing, hierarchy, accessibility, interaction states, and edge cases.
  • Comfort delivering within an established framework while contributing ideas to evolve it, and knowing when to do which.
  • Own your workload: track deadlines, flag blockers early, and deliver without requiring close oversight.
  • Thrives in both independent deep work and collaborative creative sessions.
  • Experience handing off production-ready specs and assets to development teams.
  • Team-oriented with a positive, no-ego approach to collaboration.
  • Proactive, able to drive projects forward without explicit direction.
  • Sense of humor is a plus.
