Principal Product Designer, AI
Job Description
Warner Bros. Discovery is seeking a Principal Product Designer, AI to lead CNN's consumer AI experiences across user-facing digital platforms, onsite in New York, NY, with a salary range of USD 189,700 to 352,300 per year.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate as a core member of CNN's design team to define a bold user experience vision for evolving consumer AI features, covering discovery, comprehension, and personalization.
- Partner with Product to chart a roadmap that prioritizes high impact AI features, including personalized feeds, dynamic homepages, and conversational agents that help users better understand the news.
- Identify user needs, craft cutting edge experiences, run rapid prototypes to test and validate features, and shepherd new AI capabilities through launch.
- Work with fellow designers and design leaders to drive an innovative design direction while ensuring AI features feel cohesive, seamless, and natural across surfaces and platforms.
- Direct the UX strategy for consumer AI experiences using user research and analytics to understand engagement, identify meaningful pain points, and design solutions that move key business metrics.
- Serve as a thought leader in ethical and responsible AI design, with a strong understanding of the media landscape and a commitment to CNN's innovative approach.
Requirements
- 12+ years of related product design experience with a proven track record of launching innovative consumer-facing products.
- 3+ years working with AI and ML technologies, including experience with large language models, recommendations systems, or generative interfaces.
- Strong grounding in AI fundamentals and their application to product experiences; comfortable partnering with technical leads and data scientists. Media industry experience is a plus.
- Expertise in Figma and prototyping, deep familiarity with design systems; extensive use of Confluence and Jira for program management.
- Impeccable written and verbal communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills; proven ability to execute a design vision and influence cross-functional teams.
- Data-driven approach with extensive experience testing and refining to continually improve metrics.
- Mastery of UX design practices, including usability principles, user research methodologies, and testing techniques.
- Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience.
