Senior Product Designer
Job Description
EchoStar is seeking a Senior Product Designer to help shape complex digital and AI-driven experiences from early discovery through launch and ongoing iteration. In this role, you will set design direction across products, collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, AI Engineering, and Data Science, and help define standards for responsible AI, accessibility, transparency, and privacy.
Working onsite in Englewood, CO, this position supports design leadership that scales across teams and surfaces user trust signals for non-deterministic AI systems.
What you’ll do
- Lead design strategy for complex digital and AI initiatives from discovery and concept through launch and post-launch iteration.
- Design and govern design system components and interaction patterns, including AI patterns, that scale across websites, apps, and business units.
- Define how AI features communicate confidence, limitations, and sources so users know when to trust, verify, or escalate an output.
- Partner daily with Product Managers, Engineers, AI Engineers, and Data Scientists to shape acceptable model behavior, failure modes, and human-in-the-loop patterns from the user’s point of view.
- Lead advanced research, usability studies, and output evaluations that inform product strategy, guardrails, and responsible AI standards related to accessibility, transparency, and data privacy.
- Mentor junior designers, help remove friction between design and engineering, and contribute to shared design playbooks.
- Lead design projects from planning through delivery.
- Facilitate design thinking workshops and integrate design into agile sprints and engineering handoffs.
What you bring
- Working knowledge of modern web and app platforms and of Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, and agentic workflows, including how these technologies influence interaction design decisions.
- Ability to create accessible digital experiences, including trust, transparency, and human-in-the-loop patterns for non-deterministic systems with varying outputs.
- Expertise with Figma and design system practices, including variables, collections, and component governance.
- Proficiency combining qualitative research with telemetry (for example: conversion, adoption, correction rates, and task success) to evaluate digital and AI experiences.
- Strong storytelling skills that translate user needs and model limitations clearly for non-technical stakeholders.
- Critical experience designing production-grade digital, AI/ML, or automation products from discovery through launch, including mentoring junior designers.
- Experience aligning design strategy with business goals by partnering with Product Managers and leading design projects from planning through delivery.
- Experience leading design systems or design operations at an organizational level.
- Familiarity with AI governance, accessibility regulations, and data privacy standards.
- Minimum Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Cognitive Psychology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
