Lead Product Designer
Job Description
Allswell is seeking a Lead Product Designer to join a small product team and help shape core patient and provider experiences for the LGBTQ+ mental health community. Reporting to the CTO, this role combines high ownership with close collaboration across product and engineering to turn evidence-based clinical tools into intuitive, engaging user experiences.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the healthcare experience feels welcoming and affirming for the LGBTQ+ mental health community.
- Productize clinical tools that work exceptionally well for this community, supporting people to feel safe, supported, and connected at every step.
- Turn Allswell’s brand into a living design system that defines how it feels to interact with Allswell.
- Lead UX research with patients, therapists, and families, converting ambiguity into clear product direction.
- Design end-to-end user flows and experiences, including the process for creating them, in partnership with product, engineering, clinical ops, and growth.
- Work directly with engineers through delivery to ship polished features.
- Own complex design problems end-to-end by leading user research, building prototypes for quick alignment, and delivering refined solutions with the engineering and product teams.
- Set design direction while staying hands-on to turn ideas into thoughtful, polished product experiences.
- Translate well-studied, evidence-based clinical tools into experiences that feel intuitive, engaging, and relatable.
- Design experiences that help patients get started, stay connected to their therapists, and feel better over time.
Requirements
- 6+ years of product design experience shipping products and features that thousands of people actually use and value.
- A strong, diverse portfolio showing clear, decisive design instincts from user research and prototyping through shipped product.
- Fluency with AI tools, including experimenting aggressively with AI and continuously reevaluating how great designers spend their time.
- A research mindset and genuine energy for speaking with real users.
- A clear, thoughtful, and direct communication style.
