Job Description

Aeroflow Health is hiring a hands-on Principal Product Designer to help shape clear, accessible digital experiences for patients and streamline the tools employees use to deliver care. In this onsite role in Asheville, NC, you will lead complex initiatives from discovery through launch, strengthen design systems and delivery practices, and mentor designers across high-stakes, multi-touchpoint journeys.

What you’ll do

  • Improve patient access to products and services with clear, accessible digital experiences.
  • Simplify employee workflows and tools that support patient care.
  • Connect experiences across product areas using shared design patterns and a practical design system.
  • Bring research and strong design craft into product decisions while partnering with the existing UX team and UX Researchers.
  • Set experience direction for complex initiatives across patient-facing products and internal tools, aligning user needs with business goals and technical constraints.
  • Map complete journeys, including digital touchpoints and operational handoffs, simplifying workflows involving insurance, documentation, ordering, and support while accounting for exceptions and incomplete information.
  • Translate research into end-to-end system flows, architectural design decisions, and reusable design system patterns.
  • Architect end-to-end user journeys and complex system flows, establishing high-fidelity design standards and UI patterns for the broader team to execute.
  • Act as the primary technical owner and architect of Aeroflow’s multi-platform design system, partnering with Engineering on component architecture, governance, and adoption.
  • Collaborate with engineers on feasibility, behavior, and edge cases; document design intent and acceptance criteria; review implemented experiences and resolve gaps before and after launch.
  • Elevate craft quality through design critiques, interaction design standards, and mentoring Senior Designers on complex problem-solving and systems thinking.
  • Partner with Product and Analytics to define and evaluate outcomes such as task completion, conversion, adoption, avoidable support contacts, and time spent on operational workflows.
  • Design for accessibility, clear language, and different levels of digital confidence; work with Security and Compliance to incorporate privacy and appropriate handling of patient information.
  • Evaluate approved AI-assisted prototyping workflows, validate outputs, and use approved data-handling practices for sensitive information.
  • Maintain individual responsibility for knowledge of and compliance with laws, regulations, and policies; regular and reliable attendance as assigned.
  • Maintain HIPAA and patient confidentiality.
  • Perform other assigned job duties.

What you bring

  • 8+ years of product or UX design experience (or equivalent experience demonstrating principal-level impact through complex, shipped products).
  • A portfolio of shipped work showing your contribution, research and design decisions, interaction and visual craft, and resulting user or business outcomes.
  • Systems thinking and information architecture skills, with experience using research and usability testing to shape complex workflows and product direction.
  • Experience creating or evolving reusable design systems, building interactive prototypes in Figma or comparable tools, and partnering with Engineering on feasible solutions.
  • Ability to influence product decisions, communicate with senior stakeholders, and mentor designers while staying directly involved in design execution.
  • Working knowledge of accessibility and responsive design, applied to both customer-facing and internal experiences.
  • Relevant education in design, human-computer interaction, or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
