UI UX Designer IT
Job Description
Design and UI/UX product work for web and mobile platform applications at Dulles International Airport (IAD), partnering with stakeholders and delivering clear specifications to development.
Responsibilities
- Design and prototype features for the Airports Authority website, intranet, and mobile applications using best-of-breed experience design
- Develop interactive prototypes, moving from whiteboard and paper concepts to testable flows
- Create interactive and visually appealing designs using computer graphics software and web development languages/technologies
- Collaborate with the Office of Communications to design graphics that support online marketing and public relations messaging
- Present design work to Office of Communications marketing staff, business area leaders, and other internal teams for feedback and review
- Participate in planning for the Airports Authority website and applications
- Collect text documents and images for web and intranet pages and convert them into HTML-viewable formats
- Create device-agnostic web and intranet pages and mobile app experiences compatible across computer systems and browsers
- Assess usability of new and existing web and app features and recommend improvements to software engineers and analysts
- Conduct usability testing with software engineers and stay current with evolving design standards
- Support assigned app domain(s) and work toward established Service Level Agreement (SLA) targets
- Support web page and application development for existing intranet and web sites and business application portfolio
- Use development tools such as Jira and DevOps Tools to capture requirements and collaborate with development teams
- Perform desk audits and customer shadowing for Design Thinking workshops to develop Business Applications product design aligned with industry standards and guidelines
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Six years of progressively responsible experience in IT software development creating applications, plus a bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts, Graphic Design, Computer Science, or related field
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- At least three of six years must be in a UI/UX capacity designing interactive websites and applications for customer audiences
- Ability to apply UI/UX design to conceptualize, design, and prototype new features that are user-friendly, clear, and efficient
- Skill in using HTML extensions and mobile rendering aspects of graphics and content to convert text documents and images into HTML-viewable formats
- Skill in creating interactive and responsive designs for web and mobile apps using Flash, XML-based web apps and programming, XHTML programming, Adobe XD, Tailwind, and other web development technologies
- Skill in device-agnostic web and mobile app design compatible with servers and browsers
- Ability to analyze data and information in detail and make recommendations
- Ability to conduct Sprint grooming of the SCRUM process
- Knowledge of DevOps concepts and tools including Jira/Confluence and Azure DevOps
- Ability to speak and write effectively, including communicating technical issues to nontechnical audiences

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe XD, Tailwind, Paint Shop Pro) and current HTML programming for web, intranet, and mobile apps
- Experience on software development projects using web and mobile technologies, including mobile app solutions

- Work reviewed in progress and upon completion for quantity, quality, timeliness, teamwork, customer service, and other factors
- May be subject to night/weekend work to provide after-hours administrator website support
- Location: Dulles, VA (onsite)
- Salary: USD 106,262 - 154,080 per year
