Staff Product Designer
Job Description
Staff Product Designer role at Broadcom (onsite in California) focused on shaping design strategy for a major product area within the VMware vDefend Advanced Threat Prevention solution. The position owns end-to-end experience for a core feature set and leads design vision across multi-product initiatives through close partnership with Product, Engineering, and Business.
Responsibilities
- Design user experiences and interactions for advanced security solutions, including development of low- to high-fidelity prototypes to validate design concepts and interaction patterns.
- Own long-term design strategy and product vision across multi-product initiatives.
- Lead cross-functional alignment and collaboration with senior leadership across Product, Engineering, and Business.
- Apply design thinking and empathy throughout the product development process.
- Mentor and guide junior designers to support a high-caliber design culture across the team.
Requirements
- Online portfolio with a range of interactive, hands-on samples is required.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering.
- 8+ years of directly related experience in Product Design, User Interface Design, or HCI within global technology environments.
- Demonstrated depth of experience building and understanding products and their users, including participation in teams that designed and built products from the ground up.
- Expert-level knowledge of creative design tools, including Figma.
- Hands-on visual design skills.
- System-thinking approach with an interest in conceptualizing and creating delightful experiences across multiple products, services, and environments.
- Ability to proactively engage with end users to learn about work behavior and challenges.
- Proven capability to operate in extreme ambiguity and bring clarity to both design and engineering teams.
- Collaboration skills, including leveraging others’ knowledge and working effectively with cross-functional partners.
- Proactive owner mindset that influences design culture and operational excellence across the product organization.
- Ability to receive, weigh, and incorporate diverse feedback from multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong presentation and communication skills, including effectively presenting and communicating design work to the Product Design team and external audiences.
- Understanding of Product Design mission and goals, with the ability to communicate them to product teams.

Compensation and Benefits
The annual base salary range for this position is $120,000 - $192,000.
