Product Designer

Join a Series A defense-tech startup in Arlington, VA (hybrid) building an AI-powered compliance platform. In this Product Design Lead role, you will take ownership of end-to-end product design and help ensure design moves smoothly from concept to production. You will lead creation of a component-driven design system that engineers can use by default and that can be consumed by AI tooling such as Claude Code.

This position is built for designers who want to work close to engineering realities, using rapid prototyping to set the UI/UX direction for high-stakes operational workflows before heavy engineering begins.

Responsibilities

• Own the entire design process to develop a scalable, component-driven design system that engineers will use by default and that is directly consumable by AI tools like Claude Code.
• Remove design constraints tied to a single tool by taking design completely out of the Figma silo.
• Act as a proactive product owner across the design lifecycle.
• Continuously refine implementation details by tweaking TSX and CSS.
• Contribute directly to engineering work by pushing PRs.
• Use rapid prototyping to define UI/UX direction for complex operational workflows before significant engineering effort starts.

Requirements

• Highly autonomous working style.
• 3-5+ years of experience designing complex, stateful digital products.
• Strong frontend React skills.
• Operate as a true technical partner alongside engineering.
