Senior Product Designer, MapMy

Outside is hiring a Senior Product Designer, MapMy to shape the design vision across the MapMy portfolio and help define a modern, AI-accelerated design practice. Based in Boulder, CO with remote work available in Colorado, this role partners closely with Product, Engineering, and Data to design, ship, and measure consumer experiences at scale.

You will lead end-to-end design for high-leverage experiences across mobile (iOS/Android) and web, from early problem framing through delivery. The position also includes owning the MapMy design system, driving research, and mentoring designers while setting visual, interaction, and motion standards aligned with accessibility requirements.

What you’ll do

• Lead end-to-end design across MapMy’s mobile (iOS/Android) and web experiences, owning the most impactful surfaces from problem framing through delivery.
• Define and evolve an AI-accelerated design practice, using tools such as Claude, Cursor, and v0 daily for ideation, prototyping, and iteration.
• Build functional, interactive prototypes quickly to validate concepts with real users and stakeholders.
• Own the MapMy design system and component library to increase consistency and quality across the product suite.
• Drive the research agenda with Product by leading interviews, usability tests, and competitive analysis to ground decisions in real user needs.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data leadership to align design strategy with business goals.
• Mentor mid-level and junior designers, lead design reviews, and raise the craft bar across the team.
• Define design success metrics and lead post-launch analysis using A/B results, funnel data, and qualitative feedback.
• Deliver polished design specs, redlines, and asset handoffs, using interactive prototypes when they communicate the intent more effectively.
• Set visual, interaction, and motion standards and ensure work meets WCAG accessibility guidelines.

What you bring

• 7+ years shipping consumer-facing mobile or web products, with a portfolio showing end-to-end design leadership from problem framing through shipped outcomes.
• Expert Figma proficiency and fluent, daily use of AI tools in your design workflow.
• Deep understanding of iOS, Android, and responsive web design principles.
• Proven collaboration with senior Product, Engineering, and Data leaders in an agile environment, plus experience mentoring designers.
• Strong communication skills for articulating design rationale and tradeoffs to executive and cross-functional audiences.
• Mastery of typography, color, layout, and interaction design, including experience building or scaling design systems.
• Ability to build functional prototypes using AI code-generation tools so you can get a working demo in front of users independently.
• Comfort operating in ambiguity, showing more through demonstration than explanation, and bringing conviction and taste to what gets built.
• Curiosity and experimentation with new tools, with low ego and high standards.

Compensation & benefits

• $120,000 to $150,000 salary (USD, yearly)
