Senior Product Designer, Growth (Everand & Fable)
Job Description
Scribd, Inc. is hiring a Senior Product Designer to lead growth across Everand and Fable. In this onsite San Francisco role, you will shape the reader-to-subscriber journey, run experiments, and collaborate across Product, Research, Engineering, Data, and Marketing to ship work that improves key metrics.
What You Will Do
- Own the customer moments that convert readers into subscribers across app, web, and email, covering onboarding, plans and pricing, referrals, and lifecycle.
- Identify natural ways to connect Fable’s community with Everand’s library.
- Generate test ideas, partner with your PM to scope experiments, and define success metrics.
- Focus on subscriber acquisition using ethical approaches without dark patterns or tricks.
- Take work from rough concept to production-ready execution while maintaining attention to detail.
- Develop and apply a strong visual voice across two distinct brands, and define new patterns when existing systems fall short.
- Prototype early, including in code when appropriate; use AI to explore more directions before narrowing; validate approaches through usability testing prior to launch.
- Analyze results, identify where the journey is underperforming, and propose what to try next using a clear point of view.
- Ground decisions in research, competitive insight, and observed customer behavior.
- Share work early and frequently, and help other designers strengthen their craft.
Key Experience and Requirements
- 5+ years of product design experience, with hands-on time focused on growth, monetization, or subscription products.
- Distinct visual craft paired with strong interaction design skills, with the ability to get to great quickly.
- Experience shipping experiments that moved conversion, activation, retention, and/or revenue, with an understanding of why results occurred.
- Comfort thinking in journeys rather than screens, including helping define the path forward when it is unclear.
- Daily use of AI for exploration, prototyping, and understanding, including building workflows others can reuse while holding AI output to the same quality bar.
- A passion for reading, with informed opinions about how and why people discover, share, and stick with books.
- The ability to support design decisions using data, research, and customer insight, supported by both evidence and taste.
- Bonus: motion design experience, experience with consumer subscription apps, and experience with mobile or community and social products.
- A portfolio with 3+ case studies showing growth impact and strong visual craft, including a point of view grounded in the why, plus at least one test that did not win and what was learned.
