Product Designer
Job Description
Sustainment is seeking a Product Designer (or Senior Designer) to advance the overall user experience of the Sustainment platform for supplier and supply chain workflows. The role reports to the VP of Product and works closely with product and engineering to deliver AI-driven design, research, and design system-led UX across the platform.
Responsibilities
- Deliver user experience and visual design across all Sustainment products.
- Develop and apply an AI-driven prototyping approach, along with a design system and shared patterns across the areas you own.
- Partner with product management and engineering to produce design outcomes aligned to user functional needs.
- Plan and run user research with manufacturers and suppliers, including interviews, rapid prototype testing, and synthesis of findings.
- Create UX artifacts such as journey maps and interaction models, and build high-fidelity UI using the design system.
- Use AI model-driven design tools, including Claude, to generate UI and working prototypes from the design system to test ideas with users early.
- Design data-dense procurement interfaces and AI-assisted decision flows that keep users in control while maintaining trust.
- Write design specifications that address edge cases, and remain involved through QA and launch.
- Present design concepts and rationale to the team and participate in critique, contributing feedback and incorporating it.
- Own end-to-end design coherence across the platform so it feels like a unified system rather than disconnected features.
- Own information architecture and reusable patterns that connect core workflows.
- Define the long-term design vision for how buyers and suppliers use the platform, including AI-assisted decision making, and ensure this vision is reflected in the roadmap.
- Set the research agenda and maintain a consistent research cadence to inform product priorities.
- Present designs and rationale to company leadership.
- Strengthen the design system so AI models can build from it reliably, build a strong critique culture and research habits, and mentor other designers as the team grows.
Requirements
- 3+ years of product design experience, ideally in B2B SaaS.
- A portfolio showing shipped work and how you moved from problem definition to solution.
- Experience designing complex, data-dense interfaces for business users.
- Hands-on experience with AI model-driven design and prototyping, using tools such as Claude to convert a design system into working UI.
- Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to take a rough problem through to a shipped design.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with engineers and product partners, including the ability to explain decisions with clear rationale.
- Strong craft across interaction and visual design, maintained at a consistently high bar.
- 5+ years of product design on B2B SaaS, with clear ownership of major workflows or product areas.
- A portfolio demonstrating end-to-end workflow thinking, product leadership, and measurable shipped outcomes.
- Strength in system design, including information architecture and reusable patterns that scale across a whole product.
- A record of leading work from rough problem framing to shipped product, including persuading leadership and influencing the roadmap.
- Experience mentoring designers or raising the design practice across a team.
