CapTech Consulting is building intuitive, accessible digital products and services through client-delivery work, and the Customer Experience (CX) team is looking for a Senior Product Designer to help shape end-to-end experiences. This hybrid role in Richmond, VA combines hands-on design strategy with delivery, partnering across teams to influence user behavior and strengthen brand-to-customer relationships.

In this position, you will lead design efforts that translate research and strategy into wireframes, responsive visual designs, and interactive prototypes built with usability in mind. You can also contribute to practice growth by mentoring junior creatives and helping drive client relationship and account growth, depending on project needs.

What you’ll do

  • Lead creation of personas, customer journey maps, wireframes, responsive visual designs, and interactive prototypes following interaction design and usability best practices.
  • Manage a project team to nurture junior creatives, develop their talents, and elevate the quality of client deliverables.
  • Present design concepts and rationale clearly to clients and internal teams, supported by clean, informative, and concise presentations.
  • Provide insightful, constructive feedback on the experience across interactions, information architecture, content, layout, and alignment with goals and brand.
  • Conduct competitive assessments, research design and technology trends, and propose innovative alternatives.
  • Help evolve CX methodologies, capabilities, approaches, and toolsets by attending and leading CX meetings and trainings, along with ongoing professional development and industry involvement.
  • Apply strong UI best practices across web, OS-native, and embedded apps, advocating accessibility and visual design benefits with clients and teams.
  • Explore and leverage AI-powered design tools and workflows, experimenting with new approaches to improve creativity, efficiency, and impact.

What you bring

  • Proven understanding of product strategy, heuristic analysis, information architecture, user research, UI design, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing.
  • Ability to translate business goals and user needs into thoughtful design solutions.
  • Track record of creative insight and delivery from research through implementation while partnering with multi-discipline teams and the client.
  • Comfort leading in enterprise-scale environments, motivating teams of researchers and designers to create engaging, multi-channel digital solutions.
  • 8+ years of professional experience, ideally in a design consultancy or digital agency.
  • A 4-year degree in design, HCI, or a similar field (preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple projects while delivering against scope and budget.
  • Strong communication skills across written, verbal, conceptual, and visual formats.
  • Required: Proficiency designing developer-ready visual assets and UI components in Figma, including organizing files for clarity, consistent styles and naming, and advanced capabilities such as auto layout, component libraries, variables, and design tokens.
