Job Description
Join the Human Capital team at D. E. Shaw & Co., L.P. as a Product Designer in New York, NY (onsite). This role supports high-quality, organized UX execution across multiple platforms, partnering closely with product managers. You will work with a tailored design system and contribute to AI-powered workflows, including owning detailed design implementation.
What you’ll do
- Execute UX design across custom web platforms, keeping consistency and quality across every stage.
- Build and maintain design systems in Figma, using components, slots, variables, and semantic tokenization, alongside Code Connect.
- Research and implement AI-enabled workflows that improve parts of the development process from ideation through handoff.
- Create AI-consumable design resources to support reliable execution, including Figma Make Kits, skills, and guideline documentation.
- Manage multiple projects at once, balancing priorities and timelines to deliver polished results.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to translate requirements into clear, actionable design solutions.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
- 4 to 7 years of experience in UI/UX design, with a track record of high-quality delivery across platforms.
- Expert-level Figma proficiency, including hands-on experience with auto layout, components, slots, variables, and semantic tokenization, plus design system management.
- Enthusiasm and experience with AI-powered design workflows, including Claude and Figma Make.
- Exceptional attention to detail, from system-level architecture through pixel-level refinement.
- Ability to manage several projects simultaneously and adjust to shifting priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication, comfortable engaging stakeholders from individual contributors to leadership.
- Proven ability to design complex systems across multiple user types and workflows, with clear communication of design rationale.
Compensation and benefits
Base salary: USD 130,000 to 170,000 per year.
