Product Designer
Job Description
Instagram is seeking a Product Designer to help mold the experiences that define how people share, discover, create, and connect on the platform. This role places you at the forefront of design leadership on cross-functional teams, guiding end-to-end product development from concept through launch, with on-site work in San Francisco.
Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver design projects of large and/or ambiguous scope across Instagram's product ecosystem.
- Take broad, conceptual ideas and turn them into something useful and valuable for our 2 billion+ users.
- Design flows and experiences that simplify and distill down complex actions into usable interfaces.
- Design new experiences or layouts that evolve and define visual systems.
- Innovate with AI to create new capabilities, improve personalization, or unlock new forms of value that weren't previously possible.
- Contribute to strategic decisions around the future direction of Instagram products.
- Give and solicit feedback from designers and a broader product team in order to continually raise our bar for quality, while also taking on mentorship.
- Lead cross-functional partnerships with product managers, engineers, researchers, and content strategists to oversee the user experience of a product from conception until launch.
- Champion design craft and raise the bar on the team — not just through your own work but by influencing how others design.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field
- 8+ years of product design experience, with demonstrated impact on consumer products at scale
- A portfolio that shows end-to-end ownership of complex, multi-surface product experiences
- Experience leading end-to-end development efforts, driving progress with Cross Functional Partner (XFN) teams, developing design roadmaps, and making high-impact decisions balancing user needs with business growth objectives
- Expertise in advanced prototyping techniques, such as creating functional prototypes or using emerging technologies
- Comfort with data: you use metrics, research, and experimentation to inform and validate your design decisions
