Front-End Web Designer - AI Trainer

DataAnnotation is seeking an experienced Front-End Web Designer - AI Trainer to assess how frontier AI models perform on visual design tasks. This contract role focuses on creating realistic design briefs, testing them in AI design tools, and delivering evidence-based critiques against professional standards.

Location and Employment Details

• Location: Fort Worth, TX (onsite)

• Pay: USD 75 - 125 per hourly
• Education: Bachelor’s degree

Role Summary

You will evaluate AI-generated design outputs by running curated prompts and assets through frontier AI design tools. You will then compare results across model versions and identify specific strengths and shortcomings in each output, using the same standards you would apply when reviewing work from a colleague.

Responsibilities

• Design challenging, realistic design briefs using your professional expertise.
• Run briefs through frontier AI design tools and evaluate outputs against professional expectations.
• Compare two model versions using identical prompts and assets, determining which performed better and where each model fell short.
• Critique model-generated interfaces, mockups, layouts, slides, infographics, illustrations, and motion.
• Flag concrete failures with evidence, including alignment and spacing issues, content overflow and cutoff, typography problems, visual hierarchy gaps, SVG and illustration quality issues, ignored assets, and off-brief interpretation.
• Contribute across a range of design and interactive areas, including software and interactive work, office and presentation design, technical illustration, graphic design, and new media.

Requirements

• English proficiency: fluency in English (native or bilingual level).
• Design background: UI/UX design, web design, product design, or graphic design.
• Design fundamentals: strong understanding of visual hierarchy, layout, typography, interaction design, and user flow.
• Critique ability: able to articulate why a design fails, not only that it does.
• AI tool familiarity: comfortable working with AI design tools, or able to pick them up quickly.
• Education preference: a current, in progress, or completed Bachelor’s is preferred but not required.
