Front-End Web Designer - AI Trainer

Work on frontier AI visual design evaluation from home. DataAnnotation is seeking an experienced Front-End Web Designer - AI Trainer to help assess how advanced AI models perform on real, professional visual design tasks. You will create design briefs, run them through AI design tools, and critique the outputs against the standards you would expect from a colleague. This is a contract role based in Schaumburg, IL (remote).

What you’ll do

• Develop realistic, challenging design briefs using your own professional expertise.
• Use frontier AI design tools to generate outputs from those briefs and evaluate results against a colleague-level design bar.
• Test two model versions using identical prompts and assets, then decide which performed better and document where each model fell short.
• Critique AI-generated interfaces across formats including mockups, layouts, slides, infographics, illustrations, and motion.
• Identify and flag concrete failures with evidence, including alignment and spacing, content overflow and cutoff, typography, visual hierarchy, SVG and illustration quality, ignored assets, and off-brief interpretation.
• Contribute to a range of design work spanning software and interactive work, office and presentation design, technical illustration, graphic design, and new media.

What you bring

• Fluency in English (native or bilingual level).
• Background in UI/UX design, web design, product design, or graphic design.
• Strong understanding of visual hierarchy, layout, typography, interaction design, and user flow.
• Ability to articulate why a design fails, not only that it does.
• Comfort working with AI design tools, or ability to pick them up quickly.
• A Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required (in progress or completed).

How you’ll work

• Choose which projects you work on and when.
• Work on your own schedule, on your own computer, from home.
• Earn $75–$125 USD per hour (hourly). Bonus rates may be available on some projects.
