Digital Web Designer - AI Trainer

DataAnnotation is looking for an experienced Digital Web Designer - AI Trainer to evaluate how frontier AI models perform when producing real-world visual design work. In this contract role, you will translate professional design judgment into realistic briefs and then assess AI-generated interfaces and creative outputs against industry standards.

What you’ll do

• Create challenging, realistic design briefs using your own professional expertise.
• Run those briefs through frontier AI design tools and evaluate the results against the bar you would hold for a colleague.
• Compare two model versions using identical prompts and assets, deciding which output performed better and documenting where each model fell short.
• Critique model-generated interfaces, mockups, layouts, slides, infographics, illustrations, and motion.
• Identify and flag concrete failures with evidence, including alignment and spacing, content overflow and cutoff, typography, visual hierarchy, SVG and illustration quality, ignored assets, and off-brief interpretation.
• Contribute across related software and interactive work, including office and presentation design, technical illustration, graphic design, and new media.

What you bring

• Fluency in English at native or bilingual level.
• Background in UI/UX design, web design, product design, or graphic design.
• Strong understanding of visual hierarchy, layout, typography, interaction design, and user flow.
• Ability to explain why a design fails, not only that it does.
• Comfort working with AI design tools, or the ability to learn them quickly.
• A current, in-progress, or completed Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.

Contract details and compensation

• Location: Irving, TX (remote)
• Job type: contract
• Pay: USD 75 - 125 per hour
• Projects are paid hourly up to $75-$125 USD per hour, with bonus rates available on some projects.
• Independent contractor position.

Schedule and working setup

• Choose which projects to work on and when.
• Work on your own schedule, on your own computer, from home.

Payments and eligibility

• Payment is made via PayPal, and PayPal handles currency conversions from USD.
• We will never ask for any money from you.
