Web Designer
Job Description
Straight North, LLC is seeking a Web Designer to craft visually engaging, user-focused website designs that support client goals and digital marketing best practices. This role is based out of the Downers Grove, IL office in a flexible hybrid setup, with one day in the office per week and the rest remote.
You will work across the design lifecycle, producing high-fidelity concepts, refining responsive interfaces, and partnering with developers, copywriters, and project teams to keep visual execution aligned with approved designs and brand standards.
Responsibilities
- Create high-fidelity website designs in Figma for new projects and ongoing website support requests, balancing aesthetics, usability, and conversion-focused objectives.
- Design responsive user interfaces that perform consistently across desktop, tablet, and mobile.
- Collaborate with developers to support accurate implementation of approved designs and preserve design consistency through development.
- Partner with copywriters and project managers to align content, messaging, and visual design with client goals.
- Share design concepts and rationale with internal teams and clients, applying feedback effectively.
- Maintain and evolve design systems, style guides, and reusable UI components to improve efficiency and consistency.
- Stay current on emerging web design trends, accessibility standards, UX principles, and responsive design best practices.
- Perform design reviews and quality assurance checks to confirm projects meet established standards prior to launch.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience as a Web Designer in a digital marketing agency, web development agency, or similar fast-paced environment.
- Strong proficiency in Figma, including component libraries, auto layout, prototyping, and collaborative workflows.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating responsive website design across a variety of industries and project types.
- Deep understanding of responsive web design, mobile-first methodologies, and cross-device user experience best practices.
- Solid knowledge of UX/UI design principles, information architecture, and user-centered design processes.
- Understanding of conversion optimization and how design affects lead generation and user engagement.
- Knowledge of web accessibility standards and best practices.
- Experience with landing page design and display ad design is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects at once.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.
- Self-directed, proactive approach and comfort working independently in a remote environment.
