Job Description

Atomic Glue is hiring a Web Designer to partner closely with the Creative Director on shared and owned design work for corporate websites. This hybrid-remote role is built around design that’s build-ready and consistent with existing design systems and client brand guidelines, with a strong emphasis on developer handoffs rather than building sites.

You’ll work on client and partner agency deliverables across multiple projects, translating goals into page layouts, templates, and components that fit the system already in place. Atomic Glue also uses AI as a tool to speed up early iterations and routine production, while expecting strong judgment and craft from day one.

What you’ll do

  • Join client design discovery and listen past the brief to understand what’s really needed.
  • Design pages, templates, and components for corporate sites, taking work from early layouts to final, build-ready files.
  • Work inside existing design systems and extend them cleanly by adding the components and patterns a growing web identity requires.
  • Find smarter workflows using reusable components, templates, and AI tools, keeping quality intact while moving faster.
  • Design to brand guidelines for clients and partner agencies, matching their standards even when work runs under someone else’s name.
  • Help expand client design systems and brand guidelines, strengthening web consistency for brands often built first for print or presentations.
  • Prepare strong developer handoffs, including HTML files, organized Figma files, defined states, responsive breakpoints, and notes for anything not obvious.
  • Answer developer questions during build and review what ships against the design.
  • Manage multiple projects in a week and flag risks early when timelines are at stake.
  • Present your work and explain design reasoning to the Creative Director first, and to clients when appropriate.

What you bring

  • 2 to 4 years designing websites professionally, ideally with some agency or client services experience.
  • A portfolio of live marketing or corporate websites where your role is clearly defined for each project.
  • Fluency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign at minimum).
  • Hands-on experience using Claude Design as part of your design process.
  • Strong skills in layout, typography, and hierarchy, including the ability to make dense B2B content easy to read.
  • Experience working within an existing design system or brand guidelines, not only creating new ones.
  • Understanding of responsive design and how designs translate into code, including grids, spacing systems, component states, and real content.
  • Basic working knowledge of web accessibility (color contrast, focus states, readable type sizes).
  • Comfort filling in gaps when briefs are incomplete or responsibilities overlap, including flagging assumptions and moving forward.
  • Clear written communication for asynchronous coordination.
  • Ability to take direct feedback, improve the work, and return with a better version.

Tools you’ll use

  • Figma (components, variants, auto layout, shared libraries)
  • Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Claude Design
  • HTML

Hybrid role details

  • Location: Hybrid remote in Brookfield, WI 53005
  • Office expectation: 3 days per week in the Brookfield office

Compensation & benefits

  • Salary: $60,000.00 to $75,000.00 per year
  • Dental insurance
  • Health insurance
  • Paid time off

AI stance

Atomic Glue uses AI as a tool, not a replacement for people. It helps with faster iterations early on, quicker routine production, and filling gaps to meet deadlines without cutting corners. AI cannot replace judgment, and the team does not support producing low-quality AI output. If you know when to use AI and when to set it aside, you’ll fit in well.

How this role can grow

  • Own the design of whole projects, not only pages within them.
  • Help maintain and improve design systems for clients.
  • Present directly to clients and partner agencies with confidence.
  • Spot design or brief issues early to prevent rework.

Application questions: Are you in or around the Milwaukee area? Are you comfortable with working in the Brookfield office 3 days per week?
