Video & Motion Designer
Job Description
Lessen is looking for a Video & Motion Designer to craft end-to-end video content for Marketing, helping bring the brand to life through motion graphics, kinetic typography, and clear visual storytelling. This onsite role in Chicago, IL focuses on turning product UI and complex SaaS and AI concepts into polished, on-brand videos that resonate with both technical and non-technical audiences.
In this position, you will concept, design, edit, and produce a wide range of marketing videos across Lessen’s channels, from product launches and demos to customer stories, events, and paid campaigns. You will also help shape creative direction by building storyboards, treatments, and narrative structures, and by partnering closely with multiple teams to translate business goals into compelling creative concepts.
What you’ll do
- Concept, design, edit, and produce brand-aligned video content for marketing initiatives, including brand and corporate storytelling.
- Create videos for product launches, promotional content, and feature walkthroughs, including polished product demos.
- Design motion graphics and branded visual systems that make complex ideas feel simple through transitions, typography, and animated data visualizations.
- Work directly with Figma and product UI to adapt screens and assets for storytelling, rather than relying only on screen recordings.
- Animate product interfaces, workflows, dashboards, mobile experiences, and feature interactions with a polished, intentional, and easy-to-understand look.
- Produce social and paid media content, including customer testimonials, case study storytelling, event and sales videos, and commercial and digital advertising.
- Edit interviews, customer stories, event footage, and other live-action material into cohesive narratives.
- Create multiple cuts and adaptations for LinkedIn, paid social, websites, sales presentations, events, and other channels.
- Source and coordinate production assets such as music, stock footage, photography, voiceover, and sound effects as needed.
- Maintain visual and motion consistency with Lessen’s evolving brand system.
- Develop reusable motion templates, animation systems, transitions, and production workflows to help the marketing team produce video more efficiently and consistently.
- Manage multiple projects, communicate clearly on timelines and priorities, and coordinate production needs.
- Stay current on emerging video, motion, AI, design, and B2B technology trends and bring forward new creative approaches.
AI and tools you’ll use
- Use generative AI video tools as part of the production workflow, including creating and refining prompts, generating scenes and visual assets, iterating toward usable outputs, and combining AI-generated content with traditional editing and motion design.
- Determine the strongest production approach, including when to use AI-generated footage, stock footage, live action, product UI, or hybrid workflows.
- Apply advanced motion, editing, and design practices using the listed tools and platforms.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional experience in video editing, motion design, video production, multimedia design, or a related creative discipline.
- A strong portfolio or reel showing sophisticated motion graphics, editing, visual storytelling, and digital video work.
- B2B technology, SaaS, or enterprise technology experience required.
- Strong motion-design fundamentals, including animation principles, pacing, transitions, typography, hierarchy, and composition.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro.
- Strong working knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Proficiency with Figma, including navigating product design files, pulling assets, modifying UI elements, preparing screens for animation, and recreating or adapting interface elements.
- Demonstrated experience creating software/product animations, product demos, or UI-driven videos.
- Hands-on experience using generative AI for video production, including comfort experimenting, prompting, iterating, troubleshooting, and incorporating AI-generated assets into professional work.
- Experience with current generative video and creative AI platforms such as Runway, Kling, Veo, Sora, Adobe Firefly, Midjourney, or comparable tools.
- Strong visual storytelling instincts and the ability to decide what to show, animate, simplify, or remove for a story to land.
- Ability to work from a loose brief to develop an approach, not just execute a predetermined edit.
- Strong script, storyboard, and concept-development skills.
- Ability to understand complex technology and translate it into content that feels accessible, modern, and human.
- Excellent attention to detail, especially around UI accuracy, timing, typography, brand consistency, and production quality.
