Job Description

The Video Editor & Motion Designer will convert footage, scripts, and ideas into marketing video built for paid ads, short-form social, and animated explainers. This is a daily, hands-on role supported by AI, with an emphasis on craft, measurable performance, brand consistency, and legal compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Edit video ads for Meta, YouTube, and Google Performance Max from raw footage, stock assets, and motion components.
  • Create multiple hook, length, and format variations for testing each concept.
  • Deliver every ad to platform specifications, including aspect ratios, safe zones, durations, captions, and required file formats.
  • Review ad performance with the Creative Director and use results to guide the next editing round.
  • Cut Reels, Shorts, and TikTok content from long-form videos, podcasts, livestreams, and original footage.
  • Edit for retention using a strong first three seconds, tight pacing, and a clear payoff.
  • Design on-screen text and captions that remain effective with the sound off.
  • Deliver finished clips on schedule to the Brand Content Manager for publishing.
  • Design and animate explainers that communicate legal concepts clearly to a general audience.
  • Build and maintain a library of branded motion templates, including titles, lower thirds, transitions, caption styles, and end cards.
  • Apply the firm’s brand system with precision across typography, color, logo usage, and motion standards.
  • Animate data, processes, and comparisons so viewers understand them quickly.
  • Use AI tools daily across editing, transcription, captioning, voice, audio cleanup, upscaling, and image and video generation, including rough-cut assembly.
  • Track new AI video tools and recommend options that improve speed or quality in measurable ways.
  • Follow firm standards for AI use in public-facing work and verify every AI-assisted output before delivery.
  • Capture simple b-roll, screen recordings, and phone footage when needed; major shoots are handled by the Video Producer.
  • Proofread every frame, including names, spelling, legal terms, on-screen claims, and captions.
  • Manage files, versions, and deadlines in the firm’s project management system.
  • Move projects from brief to final export with minimal revision rounds.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional video editing experience, with a portfolio showing short-form, social, or ad work.
  • Sharp judgment, curiosity, and the ability to learn complex subject matter quickly.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects.
  • Strong motion design skills, including type animation, keyframing, easing, compositing, and template building.
  • Daily hands-on use of AI video and audio tools (examples include Adobe Firefly, Runway, ElevenLabs, Descript, or Topaz) with the judgment to know when AI output is not sufficient.
  • Working knowledge of what drives short-form and paid video performance, including hooks, retention, pacing, captions, and platform specifications.
  • Meticulous attention to detail for spelling, names, facts, and on-screen text.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage many deliverables and versions at once.
  • Ability to receive direct, candid feedback professionally and apply it promptly without defensiveness.
  • Composed temperament under tight deadlines and shifting priorities.
  • Clear, professional communication with colleagues at all levels, including attorneys and firm leadership.
