UI/UX Designer
Job Description
Photon is at the forefront of human computer interaction for Agentic AI products. This onsite role in Dallas, TX invites a senior UI/UX designer to help establish interaction standards and craft collaborative workflows where users delegate tasks to autonomous agents, watch progress, and intervene whenever needed.
Responsibilities
- Designing for Transparency: build visual patterns that reveal an agent's thinking process and justification for its decisions, including status indicators, reasoning logs, and thought‑process visualizations.
- Human-in-the-Loop workflows: create seamless intervention points where an agent pauses to seek permission, clarification, or feedback before executing high‑stakes actions.
- Dynamic and Generative UI: develop interfaces that adapt in real time to the agent's current task, moving beyond static menus toward context‑aware components.
- Trust and Error UX: define graceful handling of AI uncertainties and failures, enabling the system to admit uncertainty and giving users clear paths to correct behavior.
- Multi‑modal Interaction: design experiences that fluidly switch between text chat, voice, and canvas environments where users and agents collaborate on the same document or data set.
- Prototyping Agency: use tools like Figma, Protopie, or low‑code AI frameworks to prototype complex sequences where the software performs multiple autonomous steps.
Requirements
- Experience: 7+ years in UI/UX design with a portfolio showcasing complex workflows, SaaS platforms, or AI‑driven interfaces.
- AI Literacy: strong understanding of large language models, including latency, token streaming, and the probabilistic nature of AI responses.
- Systemic Thinking: ability to design states rather than only screens, ensuring the UI reflects idle, thinking, searching, executing, or stuck conditions.
- Information Architecture: expertise in organizing high‑density information such as logs, data sources, and citations into clear visual hierarchies.
- Psychology of Design: familiarity with the uncanny valley and trust or automation bias in human‑AI collaboration.
