Staff Web Designer

The Staff Web Designer will define and elevate the design experience across harvey.ai and other web-facing surfaces. This role will own and evolve the website design system, lead design research and testing, and set a clear quality bar for pages shipped by cross-functional partners.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the website design system, establishing scalable patterns, component libraries, and governance standards to maintain consistency and speed delivery across web surfaces.
• Lead end-to-end web design work, progressing from concept and user research through interaction design, prototyping, and detailed technical specification hand-off to web engineers and motion designers.
• Drive continuous UX, conversion, and accessibility improvements through exploration, prototyping, and user testing across harvey.ai and related properties.
• Mentor junior web designers by embedding best practices for responsive design, accessibility, and design-system governance to raise the team’s collective quality bar.
• Run design demos and present work to marketing leadership and cross-functional stakeholders, clearly articulating design rationale.
• Use AI tools and emerging technologies to accelerate design workflows, explore new interaction paradigms, and advance the standard for a best-in-class legal AI website.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional design experience with a significant focus on web and digital product design, including demonstrated impact at a staff or senior-staff level.
• A portfolio demonstrating mastery in user experience design, interaction design, responsive web design, and design-system architecture.
• Strong systems thinking, including building, scaling, and governing design systems that support multiple teams and use cases.
• Proficiency with modern design tools (for example, Figma) and comfort working at the intersection of design and front-end development, including pixel-level specifications and technical hand-offs.
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted design workflows, with a track record of improving quality and velocity in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, including leading design reviews, stakeholder demos, and cross-functional critiques.
