Job Description

Staff Product Designer, Newsroom for CNN at Warner Bros. Discovery focuses on editorial experiences and AI enabled newsroom tooling, collaborating with product, engineering, research, and editorial teams.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the product design team to shape CNN editorial interfaces and newsroom tooling, spanning quick wins to long-term vision for broadcast news production.
  • Create information architecture diagrams, journey maps, user flows, wireframes, design mockups, and AI powered prototypes to clearly conceptualize features.
  • Conduct regular user research sessions with editorial users to inform design decisions.
  • Run usability tests and synthesize insights to guide recommendations and next steps.
  • Develop, contribute to, and maintain tokens and components for the design system.
  • Champion design principles, design systems, and the product roadmap to meet the needs of editorial teams.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to brainstorm, envision, and validate new features for CNN's publishing platform.

Requirements

  • 8+ years as a product designer, with at least 2 recent years in content or media management systems and/or productivity tooling.
  • Proficiency in Figma, including variables, components, styles, and shared libraries.
  • AI prototyping expertise using Cursor, Figma Make, or similar tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience using, creating, and modifying design system components to deliver scalable, delightful user experiences.
  • Experience in large-scale or enterprise environments with proactive communication; bonus for experience in news or media.
  • Proven ability to manage complex design challenges and foster cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder alignment.
  • Expertise in UX best practices, including usability, user research methods, testing (A/B, multi-variant), design theory, and interaction design; able to guide others.
  • Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience.
  • Willingness to roll up sleeves and execute to delivery.

In compliance with local law, compensation ranges are disclosed where legally required. Base pay ranges from $129,500 to $240,500 per year, with total rewards potentially including bonuses and incentives based on location, experience, and performance.
