Job Description

Staff Product Designer on Intuit's Mid-Market Industry Solutions team, guiding design across one or more industry verticals, defining vision for AI-first workflows, and aligning with product management and engineering to scale design patterns across the QuickBooks ecosystem.

Overview

Location: San Francisco, CA onsite. The Mid-Market team is on a mission to grow with customers as their business expands, transforming QuickBooks from a self-serve accounting tool into a sales-led, AI-driven platform built for the way growing businesses operate. This work spans industries that have previously lacked purpose-built software. As a Staff Product Designer on the Industry Solutions team, you will lead design for one or more industry verticals, including Construction, Nonprofit, Franchise, and Healthcare.

Compensation for this role falls within USD 188,500 to 255,000 per year, reflecting experience and location.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end design strategy and delivery across one or more industry verticals, shaping cohesive experiences in planning, workflows, financial insights, and AI-assisted features.
  • Define and evolve AI-native interaction models, balancing automation with user control and flexibility across workflows.
  • Own complex, cross-surface systems, ensuring consistency and scalability across features, tools, and emerging platform patterns.
  • Translate ambiguous, complex problem spaces such as AI-assisted workflows, project operations, and financial insights into clear, intuitive, and extensible experiences.
  • Drive alignment across cross-functional partners (PM, Engineering, Data, Research), influencing product direction and prioritization.
  • Shape product and design strategy, contribute to roadmap definition, and identify high-impact opportunities across the domain.
  • Elevate design quality and craft, setting a high bar for interaction, visual design, and storytelling across the team.
  • Leverage data and research to inform decisions, define success metrics, and iterate on solutions.
  • Champion AI design practices, integrating generative AI and automation to improve speed, accuracy, and usability.
  • Establish and scale patterns and frameworks reusable across teams, supporting platform consistency and design systems evolution.
  • Mentor and guide other designers, provide feedback, raise the level of craft, and influence team culture.
  • Communicate a strong point of view with rationale grounded in user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility.
  • Partner closely with engineering to ensure high quality implementation and feasibility of complex interactions.

Requirements

  • 6–8+ years of experience in product design, interaction design, or related fields, with senior or staff level responsibilities.
  • Proven ability to lead design across complex, ambiguous domains and deliver end-to-end experiences.
  • Strong systems thinking and experience designing scalable frameworks across multiple surfaces or products.
  • Demonstrated experience designing AI-powered or data-driven experiences with an understanding of balancing automation and user control.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration and influence, with the ability to align stakeholders and drive decisions.
  • Strong design craft across interaction and visual design, with a high bar for quality and attention to detail.
  • Experience using data and research to inform design decisions and measure impact.
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, able to present complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Experience contributing to or evolving design systems, patterns, or platform-level solutions.
