Staff Product Designer
Job Description
Design data- and experiment-driven lending experiences at QuickBooks Capital (Intuit). In this Staff Product Designer role, you will help shape how credit shows up across lending products and access points, partnering with product, data science, and engineering to ship features end to end. The role is onsite in San Francisco, CA and includes using AI in your design workflow as well as designing AI-native lending experiences.
What you’ll do
- Own feature and flow design within a lending product area, from problem framing through launch and iteration.
- Define where and how credit appears inside existing customer workflows, such as invoices, payroll, banking, and cash flow, so offers arrive at the moment of need.
- Maintain high design craft with a focus on clarity, simplicity, and customer-understandable language.
- Partner with product and data science to shape experiments, bringing a hypothesis and expectations for how results should be interpreted.
- Read and apply activation, application, approval, and drop-off data to determine what to build next.
- Ground decisions in what a test can and cannot prove, using qualitative research when it can answer faster.
- Collaborate across product teams to ensure lending experiences complement each other instead of competing for customer attention.
- Contribute to lending patterns and the design system so teams can ship consistently and at speed.
- Communicate design rationale to product and engineering partners with a clear recommendation.
- Raise quality through critique and shared standards.
- Use AI to prototype, explore, and pressure-test ideas, and bring a point of view on where AI helps customers versus where it adds risk in a regulated lending environment.
AI in the role
- Use AI in your own workflow to prototype faster and go deeper on customer insight.
- Design AI-native lending experiences, including agent-driven surfaces and recommendations inside Intuit Assist, where customers need clear explanations for why an offer is shown before acting.
What you bring
- 5–8 years of product design experience, preferably on large-scale consumer or small business products.
- Experience with lending, payments, or other financial services is a plus.
- A track record of shipping features and flows end to end, from problem framing through launch and iteration.
- Strong interaction and visual design craft, with fluency in design systems.
- Ability to analyze and synthesize quantitative and qualitative data to inform decisions, identify opportunities, and measure outcomes.
- Experience designing for experimentation, including shaping tests, interpreting results, and iterating based on learning.
- Ability to convey ideas with storyboarding, wireframing, and prototyping, and to align stakeholders through a clear narrative.
- A portfolio demonstrating user-centered design principles and craft.
- Proven ability to collaborate with Design, Product Management, and Engineering partners.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools into your design workflow to improve quality, speed, or depth.
