Staff Product Designer, Education
Job Description
Staff Product Designer, Education will lead developer experience and end-to-end product design across Learning Commons developer integration, onboarding, and dataset discovery.
Responsibilities
- Own developer experience end to end, shaping a point of view on what drives sustained use of Learning Commons tools
- Use research, usage data, and direct partner contact to translate insights into a roadmap aligned across the organization
- Design developer integration views from zero, defining what to show and why, including performance visibility such as usage, quality, errors, and impact
- Make the platform feel like one product by leading systematic design across platform, catalog, docs, and marketing surfaces
- Set patterns and information architecture, rather than applying existing patterns
- Extend the dataset catalog and access experience, building on what is already shipped with new features, richer discovery, and improved permission and organization models
- Set the craft bar and raise it across the team by mentoring designers and acting as a design systems reviewer people seek out
- Partner closely with the design systems lead to raise quality and adoption
Requirements
- At least 8 years of professional experience
- Visual craft plus product thinking, with strength in visual and interaction design and a desire to bring brand expression into the product
- Design systems fluency, ensuring recommendations land in the system through partnership with the systems designer and adoption of patterns
- Strategic ownership across an entire product or platform in production, including setting direction
- Ability to frame ambiguous problems, make value and risk tradeoffs explicit, and align people without waiting for fully specified briefs
- Systems instincts and technical depth, with interest in permissions, organization models, and multi-surface navigation
- Comfort reading an API reference, collaborating with engineers on feasibility, and designing within real constraints
- Comfort with new ways of working using AI-native methods to ship fast and learn
- Prototype in code and validate early instead of relying on a linear ideate, research, build, ship cycle
Benefits
- 401(k): generous employer match on employee contributions
- Paid time off to volunteer at an organization of your choice
- Family-forming benefits: funding for select benefits
- Relocation support for employees who need assistance moving

- Final placement is based on job-related skills and experience assessed during the interview process
- This position may be eligible for a discretionary annual performance bonus program
Better Together
- Hybrid role requiring you to be onsite at least 60% of the working month, about 3 days a week
- Specific in-office days are determined by the team’s manager
