Job Description

Akina, Inc. is hiring a Software Engineer 3 to join a Fort Meade, MD onsite team building custom software solutions for operators and analysts. In this Full Stack role with a strong UI/UX focus, you will help translate real mission needs into reliable analytic pipelines and webpage visualizations, while improving automation and workflows in an environment that changes quickly.

You will work with a small, cross-functional group to gather requirements, refine existing corporate tools, and deliver end-to-end solutions for data visualization and task automation. The position emphasizes independent ownership across the development lifecycle, along with close collaboration with analysts and developers to ensure the right capabilities make it into production.

Responsibilities

  • Gather requirements and identify improvements for existing corporate tools.
  • Understand the customer mission, collaborate with team members, collect user requirements, and automate workflows.
  • Design and build user interfaces and workflows that are reliable and intuitive.
  • Integrate with, and contribute to, a variety of teams, systems, and technology stacks.
  • Work closely with the team lead to address analyst and developer needs.
  • Develop solutions focused on data visualizations, task automation, and workflow enhancements.
  • Independently drive projects and proposals, taking ownership of the full development lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Teams are small and cross-functional, so you bring a combination of UI/UX, middleware/API, back-end, DevOps, CNO, or data science experience.
  • Experience using AI Agents to assist with software development and research (for example: Claude Code, Codex, Pi).
  • Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Experience writing scripts and services in Python.
  • Experience developing with UI frameworks such as Angular or React.
  • Familiarity with relational databases including Postgres and SQLite.
  • Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD.
  • Familiarity with Docker.

  • Experience analyzing cyber security-related data sets (network traffic, OS events)

AD3 Qualifications

  • Minimum education: Bachelor of Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
  • Minimum experience: twelve (12) years of software/system development work, or a Masters of Computer Science or Computer Engineering with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience.
  • Four (4) additional years of SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.

Location: Fort Meade, MD (onsite)

Salary range: USD 245,000 to 299,000 per year

Minimum experience: 10 years

Education: Bachelor of Computer Science or Computer Engineering
