Cleared UI/UX Software Engineer - Expert

Sunfire Solutions is hiring a Cleared UI/UX Software Engineer to support the design and implementation of web-based solutions. This role is based in Fairfax, VA (onsite) and requires an active TS/SCI clearance with active poly to deliver user-focused interfaces and robust front-end or full-stack capabilities.

Role Focus

This is primarily a development position. Expect to spend most of your time coding and providing technical solutions in collaboration with a team of engineers. You will also engage directly with UI/UX and system architecture discussions while leading technical challenges and mentoring junior team members.

Responsibilities

• Write clean, professional code and encourage consistent engineering standards across the team
• Design technical solutions based on broadly scoped requirements
• Analyze user experience, interactions, and usability to build effective interfaces
• Create UI consistency through component reuse, theming, and style guides
• Collaborate with other engineers on system architecture, UI/UX concerns, and application design elements
• Troubleshoot and debug technical issues
• Share technical knowledge with other developers
• Work closely with stakeholders and management to gather requirements, lead technical challenges, and mentor junior team members
• Work independently with minimal supervision, communicate effectively, stay organized, and provide detailed technical analysis

Required Qualifications

• Active US Government Security Clearance: TS/SCI with active poly
• BS/BA in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
• Willingness to take on challenges and learn new things
• Interest in being at the forefront of the field
• Ability to work independently or in groups

Technical Skills and Tools

• Experience: 10+ years of demonstrated software engineering experience in a front-end or full-stack capacity
• Front-end and languages: JavaScript / TypeScript, HTML, CSS (Less/Sass), and modern frameworks such as Vue.js, React, and Angular
• UI prototyping: experience designing high-fidelity wireframes, mockups, and other UI prototypes
• APIs and data formats: REST APIs, JSON processing, and JSON Web Tokens
• Build and runtime: NPM and Node.js
• Advanced web topics: worker threads, web sockets, storage APIs
• Software architecture: knowledge of OO design patterns and software architectural patterns
• Platforms: familiarity with Linux
• Cloud: familiarity with AWS services and cloud deployments
