Senior Art Director, Videography
Job Description
The Senior Art Director, Videography at Crate and Barrel will help evolve the brand’s visual identity in motion by connecting brand strategy with polished, cinematic execution. Based onsite in Chicago, this role leads the end-to-end creation of seasonal brand videos and high-impact CTV campaigns.
Key Responsibilities
- Increase customer engagement and conversion by strategically leading the development of innovative, engaging cinematic experiences that change how audiences interact with the brand.
- Translate Creative Pitch back visuals into refined video solutions that strengthen the brand and advance its visual identity.
- Own the conceptual lifecycle from high-level storyboarding through final production, using AI tools and emerging technologies to streamline story development and maintain a cohesive visual narrative across platforms.
- Collaborate with the Content team to ensure seasonal messaging is integrated into motion strategy while meeting business objectives through elevated storytelling.
- Coordinate with photo art directors, videographers, and product stylists to align creative goals and uphold brand and video standards on every shoot while delivering business results.
- Provide expert-level on-set video art direction, making decisions on shoot angles, styling, composition, and lighting to capture a “modern mindset” in every frame.
- Lead post-production creative direction, ensuring editing, color grading, and sound design reflect a high level of refinement, beauty, and purpose.
- Oversee delivery of elevated video assets across a complex ecosystem, leading the Videography team and external partners to produce CTV campaigns, seasonal brand videos, collaboration launches, and PDP content with a consistent brand voice across social and paid marketing platforms.
Required Qualifications
- Provide a link to a portfolio (including password) on the resume or submit PDF samples.
- 7+ years of relevant video art direction experience, including a proven ability to lead high-production campaigns. Photo art direction and set design experience is highly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Film, Communication, Advertising, Design, or a related field.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire within a highly collaborative environment while managing internal creatives and external production partners.
- Extensive knowledge of relevant software, including Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects, InDesign), Google Workspace, Slack, and other internal tools.
- Demonstrated proficiency using GenAI models for concepting, including VEO3, Kling, Sora, Nano Banana Pro, Flow, and additional tools listed for creative workflow support (Lyria3 for VO prototyping, Gemini for workflow enhancement and script assistance).
- Strong sketching skills and proficiency with Apple Pencil/iPad tools (Sketchbook), combined with AI-driven rapid prototyping.
- Experience across the video production process, including filming, editing, and storyboard development.
- Deep expertise spanning high-level on-set direction through complex post-production and color grading.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to “pitch back” complex creative concepts to leadership and executive stakeholders with clarity and conviction.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the year for on-location shoots and brand initiatives.

- Salary: USD 102,000 - 135,000 per year
- Experience: Minimum 7 years
