Whatnot is hiring a Product Designer for the Payments team to craft seamless, trustworthy money experiences for live commerce at scale.

Design payment and value experiences across checkout, payouts, wallet, refunds, credits, coupons, gift cards, and emerging balance products on web and mobile.
Turn payment infrastructure, compliance, tax, and financial integrity requirements into intuitive product interactions.
Design happy paths and recovery flows for high-stakes scenarios: failed payments, pending states, payment method switching, seller visibility, and resolution.
Produce wireframes, prototypes, and polished UI for ambiguous, high-impact money movement problems.
Help unify payment experiences across live, marketplace, tips, offers, and other purchase surfaces.
Use data, research, and experimentation to improve conversion, reduce payment friction, and strengthen buyer and seller confidence.
Contribute to the design system while advocating for accessibility, inclusivity, and scalable global patterns.
Design for live shopping constraints where speed, clarity, and trust matter across auctions, flash sales, subscriptions, and other high-throughput moments.

5+ years of experience in Product Design with a strong portfolio of shipped work.
Strong interaction and systems thinking to untangle complex flows and design for edge cases.
Expertise with design and prototyping tools, e.g. Figma, Protopie, Framer, etc.
Deep understanding of UX design principles and methodologies, including user research, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills working effectively with cross-functional teams.
Proven experience designing zero-to-one products or new platforms in ambiguous environments.
Experience in e-commerce, marketplace platforms, or supply chain management is a plus.

Shape checkout, payout, wallet, and incentive experiences that support every dollar moving through Whatnot, from buyer purchase to seller understanding, receiving, and managing earnings.
Partner with product managers, engineers, data scientists, and finance, compliance, and risk partners to balance speed, trust, and operational correctness.
Hybrid location: Los Angeles, CA. Work option to either use office hubs (LA, SF, NYC, or Seattle) or work remote within the U.S.
Reporting to a Design leader.
