Senior Product Designer — Workspace & Collaboration

OpenArt AI San Carlos, CA

San Carlos, CA

$200k - $350k/yr Full time Senior Collaboration Design

Job Description

OpenArt AI is seeking a Senior Product Designer to shape the workspace and collaboration experience. The work centers on systems thinking and UI craft, building consistent interfaces for both creators and the agent.

Responsibilities

Design the place where a creator’s work lives, including layout, retrieval, and how teammates collaborate on the same materials.
Make OpenArt function for teams by designing shared workspaces, roles and permissions, and review and approval flows, including centralized brand assets; ensure feedback is positioned next to the item it relates to.
Clarify how teams run inside the product by defining who is included, what access is available, what was created, and how it connects, so non-design stakeholders do not need IT to navigate essential details.
Give every asset a clear home through organization, tagging, versioning, and preserved context, so an approved visual can support a broader campaign of consistent output.
Apply systems thinking to avoid one-off fixes by designing components such as share sheets, permissions, and tags to behave consistently across the product.
Design for both people and the agent so the same panels, forms, and canvas actions map cleanly between human workflows and agent interactions.

Requirements

Systems thinking: you have changed how a product is structured so one pattern solves multiple problems, and you can describe what it enabled.
Workspace, editor, or spatial tools: experience designing products that people organize, return to, and build upon.
Collaboration and permissions: shipped sharing, roles, or review, with awareness of where multiplayer collaboration tends to break down.
Designing for user and buyer: experience serving both the person who creates and the person who manages or pays, without relegating either to the sidelines.
Strong UI craft: polished and deliberate execution focused on clarity.
AI in daily practice: use of prototyping in code and tools such as Claude and Figma Make, with specific opinions on where they help.
Product mindset: focus on how the full experience holds together, not only individual screens.
Patience for systems: ability to keep structure stable as the surrounding environment moves quickly.
Structure from ambiguity: capability to clarify fuzzy problems into workable design directions.
Open and collaborative: preference for feedback and co-creation.
Strong communicator: can justify a structure based on rationale, not only appearance.

Job Description

Shape the experience of agent-driven creation for videos, images, characters, and stories with an AI creative partner.

Responsibilities

Design the end-to-end creator experience, from the first prompt to the moment a creator is proud of the result
Enable direct creation flows where creators can speak their intent, see progress take shape, nudge improvements, and continue without losing context
Design the agent as a working creative partner, including:
- Asking the right questions when the creator gets stuck
- Showing what’s happening while the agent is working
- Taking ownership when outputs are incorrect
Keep product elements where creators expect them, so experiments can evolve into full projects without re-filing or restarting
Reduce friction as capabilities expand, making creation feel simpler rather than more complex
Define how designers collaborate with AI, including prototyping, directing, and designing agent behavior

Requirements

Experience with systems and objects, with a track record of changing product structure beyond visual design
Experience designing for AI (or other system-based interfaces where behavior is the interface)
AI used in daily practice, such as prototyping in code and tools like Claude and Figma Make, with strong opinions on where it helps
Strong UI craft with polished, considered execution for clarity
Excellent writing skills, with the ability to treat product language as design
Product mindset focused on how the whole experience holds together
Ability to create clarity from ambiguity, turning fuzzy problems into defined structures
Open, collaborative working style that welcomes feedback and co-creation
Growth mindset aligned with fast-changing tools and monthly updates
Strong communication skills, including explaining why a structure is right

Job Description

Shape the onboarding-to-checkout experience and own the first minutes that drive activation, conversion, expansion, and retention.

Responsibilities

Own the surfaces that move a visitor to a creator and a creator to a customer: onboarding, first-run, paywalls, upgrade prompts, pricing, credits, and checkout
Drive the end-to-end flow from first concept through tested experimentation
Design the first five minutes so someone moves from “I don't know where to start” to a first result they’re proud of, aligned to what they came to make
Translate business goals into design hypotheses across activation, conversion, expansion, and retention
Design and read experiments with growth PMs and data, then iterate based on what moves the metric
Make value legible with pricing, plans, and credits people can understand in one read for both individual and team purchases
Ensure clarity that converts without using tricks
Teach through the product: reveal what matters when it matters and show what’s possible instead of relying on documentation
Convert winning variants into permanent product patterns consistent with OpenArt
Build reusable patterns so each experiment makes future experiments cheaper

Requirements

Experience moving a revenue or activation metric through design (onboarding, paywalls, pricing, or checkout), with before and after results
Experiment literacy: hypotheses, variants, sample sizes, and honest result interpretation, including losses
Strong UI craft delivered quickly, including polished variants weekly and multiple iterations monthly
AI in daily practice, including prototyping in code and tools such as Claude and Figma Make, with real opinions on where they help
Data-curious mindset focused on what happened, not just whether work shipped
Bias to ship, preferring learning from real tests over extended mock debate
Ability to partner early with PMs and marketing, bringing a design point of view
Steady approach to experiments, treating most losses as information
Strong communication: explain why a change should convert, not only that it looks better

Comfortable with weekly experiment cadence while maintaining craft quality
