Mid-Level UI/UX Engineer

Leidos offers an onsite opportunity in Gaithersburg, MD that centers on mission critical front end design and development. In this mid level UI/UX Engineer role, you will support the Maru Program by crafting intuitive, production ready web interfaces for complex applications, operating within an Agile DevSecOps and cloud native environment. The position carries a competitive salary range of $87,100 to $157,450 per year and a benefits package designed to support your health, security, and retirement. A Master’s degree is required, with 2–6 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with 4–8 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement intuitive, responsive user interfaces for web applications.
• Translate complex workflows into simple, efficient experiences that boost usability and adoption.
• Build and maintain front‑end components using modern frameworks such as React or Angular.
• Ensure usability and accessibility best practices are applied across applications.
• Contribute to and maintain consistent design patterns, components, and style guides as part of a design system.
• Gather user feedback and continuously apply insights to enhance interface design and functionality.
• Collaborate with backend engineers, product teams, and stakeholders to align UI/UX with system capabilities.
• Improve front‑end performance, responsiveness, and scalability across applications.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field with 4–8 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 2–6 years of relevant experience.
• Strong experience with front‑end technologies including JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Experience with modern UI frameworks such as React, Angular, or similar.
• Proven experience designing user‑centered interfaces for complex applications.
• Solid understanding of UX principles, usability, and interaction design.
• Experience working in Linux‑based environments.
• Ability to translate user needs into functional design solutions.
• U.S. Citizenship.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with the ability to pass a polygraph examination.
