Lead Product Designer
Job Description
The Lead Product Designer role at Rocket Companies focuses on creating customer-facing digital experiences that help people discover, explore, and choose Rocket’s products and services. This position leads complex, marketing-focused initiatives end-to-end while using AI across the design workflow and collaborating with cross-functional partners to deliver scalable, high-quality UX/UI.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end design for top of funnel customer-facing digital experiences, covering discovery and ideation through UX/UI design, prototyping, validation, and implementation.
- Own complex initiatives that improve customer acquisition, engagement, and conversion while maintaining exceptional user experiences.
- Use AI tools throughout the design lifecycle, from ideation to prototyping, to accelerate iteration, broaden exploration, and improve deliverable quality.
- Define and execute against a forward-looking product vision while elevating visual design quality.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Brand, Content, SEO, and other partners to define strategy and build intuitive digital experiences.
- Translate customer insights, business objectives, and data into design solutions that address real customer needs.
- Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs to communicate concepts and align teams.
- Partner with user researchers for usability testing and incorporate analytics and customer feedback to continuously improve experiences.
- Design scalable experiences using Rocket’s design system, while identifying opportunities to enhance patterns and raise overall design quality.
- Partner with engineers during implementation to support quality, accessibility, and craftsmanship in delivered work.
- Facilitate design critiques, workshops, and collaborative sessions to strengthen feedback culture and continuously improve design quality.
- Stay current on emerging design trends, customer behaviors, and industry best practices to maintain competitive usability, performance, and visual design.
- Advocate for customer-centered design by balancing user needs, business goals, technical feasibility, and measurable outcomes.
- Mentor designers through guidance, constructive feedback, and professional growth while promoting a collaborative and inclusive design culture.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in product design.
- Experience designing customer-facing digital products, with a portfolio showing strong UX, interaction, and visual design across web and mobile platforms.
- Openness, passion, and hands-on experience using AI within the product design workflow, including ideation, AI-assisted design exploration, and rapid prototyping using Figma Make, Claude Code, Claude Desktop, or similar tools.
- Strong willingness to adopt new AI capabilities as they emerge.
- Strong foundation in interaction design, information architecture, visual hierarchy, typography, and responsive design.
- Ability to turn complex customer and business problems into simple, elegant solutions.
- Experience conducting and incorporating user research and usability testing into design iterations.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills, including the ability to explain design decisions, influence stakeholders, and advocate for user-centered design.
- Experience partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality digital products.
- Familiarity with front-end development concepts and implementation considerations.
- Experience working within and evolving an established design system.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing marketing websites, landing pages, and top-of-funnel experiences.
- A track record of experimenting with, evaluating, and championing new AI-enabled design workflows within a team or organization.
- Experience using analytics, experimentation, and A/B testing to optimize user experiences.
- Experience balancing brand expression with usability and business goals.
- Knowledge of motion design or micro-interactions that enhance user experiences.
- Experience working in agile product development environments.
Compensation
The compensation for this position is $145,500.00-$334,500.00 per year. The position may also be eligible for an annual bonus, incentives, and other employment-related benefits including, but not limited to, medical, dental, and vision benefits, a 401K retirement plan, and paid-time off.
