Furniture and Lighting Product Designer
Job Description
Design professional to draw, manage, and grow Windsor Smith Homes’ product lines across furniture, lighting, and textiles, and serve as the in-house point person for licensing.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Principals to shape strategy, design, and drawings.
- Coordinate with the Business Development team on marketing, promotions, and sales efforts.
- Work with manufacturing partners to develop the product offering, monitor progress, and shepherd products from concept to market launch and post-launch performance.
- Produce sketches, 2D drawings, 3D models, and renderings for furniture, lighting, rugs, and related items.
- Create technical drawings for production and fabrication.
- Develop presentation materials for Principals and licensees to support product development, marketing, and sales opportunities.
- Develop internal templates and standards to streamline processes and align benchmarks with partner offerings.
- Manage communications between PD&D and all licensees.
- Oversee design drawings, specifications, and sample management with licensees.
- Manage design and development timelines with each licensee to meet production deadlines and plan ongoing line extensions.
- Administer PD&D supplies, samples, and the design library.
- Coordinate installation, setup, and ongoing showroom needs with licensee showrooms.
Requirements
- Product design experience with technical knowledge in the listed product categories.
- BFA, BA, or MA in product design or a similar applicable degree.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
- Microsoft Office Suite skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
- 2D drawing ability, including sketching and AutoCAD proficiency.
- 3D modeling and rendering capabilities, with SolidWorks preferred.
- Strong verbal, written, and graphic communication skills.
- Leadership and time-management abilities to oversee multiple product lines and development schedules simultaneously.
- A portfolio demonstrating the ability to communicate production processes and include project-management documents.
