Product Designer

This onsite Product Designer role at EJ supports existing offerings and helps advance new business opportunities, moving from early concepts through production. The position coordinates multiple projects and contributes to sales support through product design and technical guidance.

Responsibilities

• Create models and drawings using Solidworks (CAD) Design and AutoCad.
• Build expertise in designing infrastructure cast products.
• Learn customer and industry requirements or specifications and propose design solutions.
• Partner with customers and Sales to provide product design and technical support, including consultation and service.
• Assist with drawings, cost estimates, time schedules, written descriptions, and project instructions.
• Support product number creation and process set up.
• Collaborate with a cross-functional team including Sales, Quality, Manufacturing, Testing, and Purchasing and provide design input.
• Work with Manufacturing to implement new products in the shop, including processes, routings, bill of materials, standards, and new product set-up.
• Resolve design and installation questions.
• Prepare project status reports and maintain communication across parties to prevent conflicts and support progress to completion.
• Assist with customer complaint investigations, reporting, follow-ups, and contribute to improving product quality as seen by the customer.
• Provide troubleshooting assistance to Sales, including part set up corrections and support for field issues.
• Promote safety awareness, accident prevention, and employee involvement to maintain a safe work environment.

Requirements

• Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a college or technical school; and/or one year of 3D modeling experience required; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Familiarity with casting design is a plus.
• Experience with 3D modeling (preferably Solidworks) and finite element analysis techniques.
• Ability to conceptualize “verbal” projects and directives provided by prospective and current customers.
• Familiarity with engineering materials including iron, steel, aluminum, plastics, composites, adhesives, and epoxies.
• Ability to perform well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines.
• Self-initiative and strong desire to learn new skills and create innovative solutions.
• Experience with common MS Office programs: Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Professional and diplomatic presentation; phone and personal contact with EJ sales personnel and customers is part of the role.

Education and/or Experience

Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a college or technical school; and/or one year of 3D modeling experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiarity with casting design is a plus.

Domestic or international air travel may be required.
